Getting ready to leave in 2 weeks for the Monte Carlo to Athens cruise, and wanted to get more info regarding room service.
1. During dinner hours, when you want a meal served course-by-course, do you order all at once, or do you order one course, and then call and order the next and so on?
2. Are hot meals served hot (i.e eggs at breakfast)? We have at least one day where the long excursion is schedule to start at 7:30 am. I am a breakfast person and think that would be a good day to order in!
3. Does anyone have an actual room service menu that they can send to me?
Thanks

1. I usually order the entire dinner at one time, just like you do in the dining room. Then it arrives in courses. I also received a different bottle of wine with my entree. The waiter said he was told the first bottle went with my choice of appetizer and the second went with the entree.
2. We always order room service for breakfast and it is always perfect - what needs to be hot is hot; what needs to be cold is cold.
3. No, but you can order anything that is on the dining room menu or at the buffet.

How interesting that dinner arrives course-by-course if you order it from Room Service. We just returned from a cruise on the Mariner in a penthouse suite and when we ordered dinner one night from the butler (as we are required to do), he brought the entire dinner all at once. We were presented with dishes stacked on top of dishes and for lack of space, we ended up putting the yet-to-be eaten courses on the floor! It was definitely not an enjoyable meal and we never ate in the suite again!

I think you have to request it specifically be served course by course.

Have not done dinners but breakfast was a daily treat on Mariner and Navigator. As stated by others, it always arrived on time, hot items were hot, cold items cold, and so forth. We used the door hanger menu and noted special requests on it, no problem. Items were always delivered at or very near the beginning of the delivery time window we selected.

When we've ordered dinner in our suite and not specified, it seems they've always brought us the preliminaries (appetizer, soup, salad) together, and later the entrée and desert. When we had a butler, we had more separate courses, but actually preferred the two-stage plan better. At other times (e.g., lunch) everything comes together if I recall correctly. That works too.

We ordered room service through our butler a number of times, mostly for breakfast, but sometimes for dinner. I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't even consider the possibility that the courses for dinner could be served separately!
In our case, we had no problems putting the extra food on the bed, floor, whatever, and just ate the hot dishes first. For us, room service for dinner for a great alternative when we returned to the ship exhausted after touring for a day and not wanting to take the time and energy to dress for dinner.

Although we hardly ever use room service, our experiences with it have all been excellent. Breakfast was lovely (most memorable was eating smoked salmon and bagels on the balcony while going through the locks on the Panama Canal - Ken said "it's lox and locks"!!
We have only had dinner once - pizza once or twice after a tiring day. But the one dinner we had, when we were in a Navigator Suite, the butler served course by course and it was lovely. We are planning on a couple more of these on our TA next year to take advantage of our dining table!!
I think one should specify when ordering dinner that you either want it course by course or you do not. The former, rather oviously, takes longer. But is much ncier since the dishes from the starter are removed before the main course arrives.

No butler in our class of service. We are still working stiffs and have one last kid in college!
I think I will order starters, and then order main courses to ensure everthing doesn't come at once. Last time out, on a bumpy sea day, my wife had succumbed to the waves and did not want to leave the cabin for dinner. We ordered everything at once, and it all came at one time.
Thanks to shipkicker for sending the menus via email!

We always order breakfast in our cabin on shore excursion days as we can take our time and eat in our bathrobes if we want to. Breakfast has always been on time and hot. On sea days we go out to eat so Joe can get his special pancakes or I can get eggs Benedict. I imagine we could also ask for those in our cabin, too. Since we have some late excursions, we may try dinner this time around. Can't wait!!

In our ten (I think) Regent cruises, we've never had a full meal in our cabin. We've both had room service for a light meal when we weren't feeling well, but that's it--no breakfasts, no coffee, nada. I always mean to try, but we enjoy being out and about on the ship very much.

Is it possible to have a bottle of "bubbly" ( won't get into the Champagne or not really champagne debate here) and caviar from room service on occasion? We enjoyed this on Cunard. Nice pre dinner treat, if that's possible!

I'd love to get a copy of those room service menus if anyone would share a link or forward them, if possible.

Unfortunately, the only time caviar is available without a cost is at Sunday brunch (may be possible to get some for room service on Sunday) and at special events. Champagne can be requested at any time.

I don't know what the "special pancakes" are, but I can attest you can absolutely get eggs Benedict from room service, as I have done so more than once. And they are delicious!
If you're using the door-hang-card to order your breakfast ahead of time, simply find a way to write your special requests in the margins if you can't find room elsewhere on the form. We did several times (I'm an unabashed order-er of what I want, regardless if it's on the menu... I figure the worst they can say is, "no"), and every request was executed flawlessly, in my memory.
By the way, be aware that you can also order Eggs Benedict for breakfast in Compass Rose, even though they are not on the menu.

I read that you can special order eggs Benedict from room service and Compass Rose but in the normal course of business are they usually served in LaVeranda?

Absolutely they are. They are available everywhere you can get breakfast. Enjoy, looking forward to them in about 5 months.
