I understand how the internet works and it's best to buy my minutes the first day (where do you do that though?) but I wondered if the minutes can be shared between two devices? I will have my iPad with me and hubby will have his laptop. we'd buy the largest package as I want to stay in touch with family at home. Can we both use those minutes (obviously we won't be doing it at the same time) or do we EACH have to buy a package? And I know that lots of the CC readers do free wi fi while in port but we've booked excursions for each port and I want to do it in the evening or on sea days, from the ship.

thanks in advance.

After you start an account (for $3.95+package price) any number of people or devices can share it. You can start the account on the ship's computers or by using one of your devices from anywhere you can get a signal, but I'd suggest doing it in the Explorations Cafe while there is somebody on duty to help if there's a problem.

Have your booking number handy for your initial password. The first time you log in you're asked what size package you want. After that each time you're asked if you want to add time. Easy to do! :)

Do you know the prices for the packages?

$55 for 100 minutes, $100 for 250 minutes. Bonus minutes of 10 and 20 respectively if you sign up on the first day. Usually late in the cruise there are smaller blocks available, and during the cruise there will often be specials like "use 20, pay for 10".

Are you sure of that? I can't remember what I think the initial password is, but that doesn't sound right. For some reason, I seem to think it's your birthday.
If it is your booking number, though, your it's on your cruise card, which you should have with you if you are out of the cabin.

That is one of the many things I've learned from this forum but I know I should log on, download, log off, compose my messages then log back on and send. This is an extremely helpful group of people thank u

I have had the internet package many times, and at least one time the initial password was my booking number, on another I believe it was birthday. They will tell you what they want and it will be easy to come up with -- They WANT to have you use the service and pay for it.

The reason I remember is that I kept transposing two digits, and the Internet Manager had to point that out to me!! :o:o:o But I'm sure the last cruise or two it was my booking number.

The first initial/last name is the I.D. field. That stays the same throughout the cruise. Then comes the password field. That's the one that I think changed to birthdate, as people remember their birthday, but always have to locate booking number. Then, at the itinial sign-on, you create your own password.

On a Collector's cruise, can you buy a pacakge for the entire (2-part) cruise or do you buy 2 packages (1 at the beginning of each segment of the cruise)?

Any minutes left over at the end of the first cruise should roll over to the second cruise. Should. It doesn't always happen without intervention from the Internet Manager.

Speak to the Internet Manager during the first cruise, and let him/her know you are continuing on. Double check that the minutes should continue, too. They have for me more than once.
If, on the first couple of days of the second cruise, you find that the minutes didn't carry over, speak to the Internet Manager again. He/She can take care of it with a manual override.

Thanks, Ruth - that was more or less the answer I was hoping for! I have no idea how much I'll use, but that makes me inclined to buy the largest package in the first cruise and then decide if I need more during the second.

You should not have any problems -- I just talk to the Internet manager and remind him/her that we are on a Collector's Cruise. I have not had any problems since HAL made some of the back-to-back cruises Collector's cruises.

Before when we had the old back-to-back cruises -- some of the Internet mangers were very good about seeing that my minutes rolled over.

So on the last full day of the cruise -- just stop by the Internet Cafe.
