Men's Attire on Silver Explorer

My husband is debating whether it is absolutely required to wear a sport jacket on the Silver Explorer (PAII) on the two informal nights (Welcome Dinner and Farewell Dinner). Is a dark sweater over a dress shirt with dress slacks acceptable or will he be refused entry to the restaurant on those 2 nights? We will be on the upcoming Silver Explorer cruise from Costa Rica to Peru in late October. Thank you.

Not required. The attire you describe is quite acceptable.

I also agree it will be acceptable.
On our recent cruise from Iceland to Toronto, sports coats were the norm for those two nights.

On our Antarctic expedition, most men were in sports coats. However, I don't think he would be turned away in slacks and a nice sweater. Overall, folks are a bit more "relaxed" in terms of attire, given the nature of an expedition ship.

Thank you to all who replied. If we weren't traveling after the cruise and if we were on any other SS ship - the decision to take a jacket would have been simple. Trying to travel light, and the sport coat is a heavy and little needed item.
