Halloween and HAL

Hi everyone -

Can anyone tell me how HAL generally does Halloween? We'll be on the Oosterdam and want to know what to pack for the occasion ;-)

I have been on HAL at Halloween and had a fun time. It was a Grand Voyage so I don't know if it is different on a shorter trip.
They decorated the entire ship. People wore costumes and there was a party in the crow's nest with games and prized. Some people took treats to hand out. It was a very nice celebration. OH....the menu in the dining room was different too.....each dish was labeled with a catchy Halloween name. Fun!

I was on a 10 day several years ago over Halloween, I think on the Veendam. Nothing as elaborate as what was described on the Grand Voyage. Our first formal night was scheduled on Halloween and was moved to the next night. I don't remember anyone in actual costumes. I have a festive black Halloween shirt with a sequined orange pumpkin on the front and I wore that, but I don't remember too many people in Hallloween-wear.

There may have been dancing in the Crow's Nest in the evening with a Halloween theme, I don't remember, but no elaborate party or decorations.

We sailed a few times over Halloween.

Different ships -- different happenings.

One time it was on a formal night -- some people came dressed in costumes for dinner -- not much else happened on that cruise.

A couple of others the entrances to the dining room was decorated -- there was a party held in the Crow's Nest starting around 10:30 - prizes were given for various things -- you are not required to wear a costume to go to the party.

On one cruise there was a pub scrawl -- but I understand they have been dropped from HAL because of a couple of incidents.

Our first HAL sailing was a Halloween cruise. There was a party in the Crow's Nest and there were many many people dressed up for it (including us). This was a very fun part of our cruise video (our first cruise, so we purchased it).

Would it be interesting to combine a vampire cruise with halloween? Or am I just being a pain in the neck?

The latter is a rhetorical question btw.
