My wife and I are thinking about taking the Silver Wind in Arpil 2012 from Barcelona to Rome. Was wondering wondering what condition the Wind is in, as well as any thoughts of the itinerary. Thanks in advance

We are spending quite a bit of time on the Wind this year. She is in very good shape and will be receiving some more attention, soft furnishings, next month. There is a new Chef with whom I am not familiar. The crew is terrific!

Yes I agree!
The Wind is by far my fav and most loved loved ship.
I also agree the crew are some of the best in the SS fleet.
There is just something about the Wind and her crew that make her a standout.
Go for it!

We enjoyed our recent return to the Wind.
I love Rome, and if you haven't seen it, stay on long enough to do it justice, including some time to just stroll and take it in and go around to delis and cafes.
Barcelona is great for architecture.
I didn't go look up your itinerary, so I am not sure of the other ports.

Thank you for your responses. Debbie, the cruise starts in Barcelona; then Caliari, Sardinia; Trapania, Sicily; La Goulette, Tunisia; Sousse, Tunisia; Valletta, Malta; Taormina, Sicily; Sorrento,Italy; then end up in Rome. Any input you have about these ports would be appreciated.

Shadow is my favourite as well as the smallest ship I've ever been on so I was nervous about 29 days on the Wind. My previous cruise was 11 months prior on the Spirit and within hours of stepping aboard, those 11 months completely disappeared and I felt at 'home' despite going from Silversea's largest ship to one of the smallest. We were also going from the newest to almost the oldest and again, there was no difference. These ships are beautifully maintained.
For sense of community (with/among passengers and crew) this was our best cruise ever. For being right in the thick of things when we docked, this cruise was also excellent. Being small had big advantages.
I'm sure you'll have a fabulous time!
