I just heard on our local TV station that there are now 5 ships in Hfx. NS and 2 more on their way. We have a storm coming in with lots and loits of rain.
At this point they are not calling it a huricane but warning of strong winds and Storm surges.
I do know that the Eurodam was in port today along with a cpl others. Not sure just who has come in but as I said now 5 in and expecting a couple more.

Thank you for the information.
Sounds like the down graded Hurricane Ophelia -- now a bad storm -- is playing havoc with her winds and rain.

We had the storm in our area north of Boston early this morning and it was shocking how much rain fell so fast. Some of the towns had 6" of rain in 2 hours. Lots of wet basements and cars that floated. There are cells from this storm carrying lots of rain..... it looks like a big plume of it over Halifax.
Stay safe.
Safe landings to the ships waiting it out in Halifax.

Good luck to everyone. Glad I didn't have any problems like that to deal with on the Eurodam last week. It was a beautiful day when we were in Halifax.

Hoping the ships and passengers a safe journey. We only had slight affects from hurricane Maria while on the Eurodam last month.

Hoping everyone stays safe. I had such a good time in Halifax so I'm sorry the passengers will miss this lovely port.
As for rain, next week the contractors will first be rebuilding my basement which was flooded out from Hurricane Irene. New walls, floors, the works. It will take about two weeks to do and will be a mess. Thankfully, insurance came through and will pay for it.

Halifax has a great sheltered harbour. They will be safe there.

Happy to hear that your work is going to be done. It can be messy but it will be beautiful when done. Enjoy your new basement.

Celebrity Summit and Silver Whisper were in Quebec sailed tuesday am, but got down near the Gulf of St Lawrence and turned around, prob since its a noreaster and it does get rough there when the wind comes in from the east. Silver is in Saguenay River and Summit steaming back up the St Lawrence.
We are not having any bad weather here, forecast is Sun and mild for the next week.
We have a very very busy week here next week, then our season is pretty well over, a few more towards the end of October and its done.

I'm not suggesting disaster... But author Sebastian Junger highlighted the oft inclement weather off the Grand Banks in October. I'm sure its even more fun in an 50-100 foot fishing vessel!
A good slicker-poncho and a woolen walk is about as ambitious as it gets!

Strong winds and rain can cause a lot of damage, it doesn't have to be a hurricane.
Sounds like you have more rain than you want, please send your excess to Texas where conditions are drought from medium to maximum.

Carol,
So sorry to hear of all the damage you had with the storm. We were fine down in our end of the city. For once, we didn't even lose electricity.

Hi Wilson,
Just want to say thank you to the wonderful people QBC for another great visit this year. We were on Maasdam the Sunday of the royal visit and had a great time..... as we did, also, the previous Friday. Your fine city is really high on our 'favorites' list.
Hope to see you again next summer. :)

Carol,
Really Sorry you have to deal with this damage but very happy your insurance will pay. Hope the rebuild goes well and you are happy with the results.
Best Wishes.......
