I searched the roll call site, but can't find anything on the April 25th Ryndam cruise. Would like to find out what the best excursions for her would be. She is doing the single share program.
Thanks

Finally! I found someone else that's doing the single share program, if only for a different cruise!
When you booked your mother, did they mention that *age* was a factor, along with gender, when matching roommates? They told me that was how they did it, but maybe because I'm 25 and they don't want to scare older cruisers?

I'm doing single share on a Hawaii/South Pacific cruise. It's the first time I've used the program on HAL, and am only doing it because of the cost of this particular 30-day voyage.
I've heard both good and bad things about the program. For a short voyage, you should be fine. Longer ones, you could be taking a chance. I can't imagine anything worse than being stuck with an incompatible cabinmate for an extended voyage.
As for the specifics of the program, HAL generally only matches roomies in terms of gender. Any single share cabin is automatically designated a non-smoking cabin (unless, of course, luck has it that both passengers are smokers). I don't believe age of each passenger would be taken into consideration at all. In fact, they didn't even request my age when I booked.
HAL's goal is to fill the cabin with two warm bodies. Figuring out how to co-exist peacefully for the voyage is your own problem. :)
Blue skies ...

I posted a message a couple day ago, but it's not here. Oh well.
I'm trying to line up excursions for my mom. Is anybody interested in 'Mazatlan Frank'? I've read good things about him. I might sign her up for the river and colonial city tour in Topolobampo. That may be one place where a tour is necessary.
