Is coffee a choice in Curacao. I was hoping since it is close to South America types of coffee might be an option.

Unfortunately, no. Coffee needs cooler, mountain temperatures, so Jamaica, Costa Rica, and maybe a few others might produce enough coffee.
What may be an option in Curacao, though, is Dutch chocolate since it used to be a Dutch colony. I remember seeing some chocolate at the fort/shopping center.

The only coffee produced locally is Cafe Barista. It's a strong coffee and we love it. Might be an idea to get a small jar and see if you like it.
What people buy here the most as far as edibles is Dutch cheese.

Is that an instant coffee (Cafe Barista) or ground beans type.

I had a peek-a-boo and saw that the beans are actually imported from Colombia and roasted over here.... So, semi-local :)

Douwe Egbert's is a dutch brand of coffee. It is offered in vacuum "brick-style" packs (both whole beans or ground) and also instant in glass jars. Price varies on the type and quality of beans which ranges from everyday to premium.
