Below is the web link to see all of the details on what this magazine reader survey said. Most of this article is about hotels and resorts. There are lots details and great travel ideas to consider on what to put on your "future wish list" and/or say "I've been there and glad others agree on how wonderful it was." This morning on the Today Show, they were featuring details on this survey.

They have four categories for cruise ships:

For smaller ships (under 600 passengers), Seabourn (91.8) narrowly edged out Silversea (88.5). Windstar, SeaDream and Lindblad followed in this category.

For medium-sized ships (600-2500 passengers, the top ratings went to Crystal (93.0) with Regent Seven Seas (91.6), Disney (89.8), Oceania (86.0), Azamara (84.7), Cunard (84.2), Holland America (81.5), Celebrity (79.9), Princess (79.8) and Royal Caribbean (76.3) following in this grouping.

Among large ships (2,500 or more passengers), Celebrity won over its competitors with a rating of 87.7 compared to Princess (80.9), Royal Caribbean (78.9), Carnival (70.9) and NCL (64.3).

They also had a smaller group for river cruises.

We've only done four cruises. This includes Seabourn Spirit for Greek Isles/Turkish Coast (2006), Crystal for Baltics (2008) and Silversea for Norway fjords/North Cape (2010). Now Celebrity this past June. It is clear that the Solstice-class ships are a major "step-up" with its great design for a ship of its size. This survey and our personal experiences make the point that Celebrity has done it very, very well with these Solstice-type ships. We have done well to have all four of our cruises on the "best of the best" ships.

The Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Survey, begun in 1988, was made available to all readers through a secure Web site. This year’s final tabulations included 28,876 responses. The online questionnaire contained lists of candidates in various categories (cities, hotels, etc.).

For top cities in the USA, they listed, in order from the top, Charleston, San Francisco, Sante Fe, Chicago, Honolulu, New York City, Savannah, Carmel, Seattle and Boston.

For top cities in Europe, they listed, in order from the top, Florence, Barcelona, Rome, Paris, Bruges, Venice, Salzburg, Vienna, Prague and Sienna. Since our June cruise with Celebrity visited five of these great cities or areas, it shows how smart they are in putting together the right/best places to cruise.

Check out the full report. Well done and very interesting!!

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio
