We originally had VA 5187 on the Zuiderdam for an up coming southern crib. cruise. I noticed a price drop on both this room and for the SY rooms. I decided to move to SY 6068 which I got for $100 less per person than we paid for the VA room and the resulting upgrade in cabin type. Now I'm wondering if there's something wrong with that room? Any input good or bad would be helpfull. Thanks

The extra space in the SY is wonderful - I think you made a great upgrade for less money. Enjoy:).

I too think you got a great deal on your upgrade. You will love the extra storage space, separate bar area & much larger bathroom. Do enjoy your cruise.:D

I don't understand why you think there might be something wrong with the room? Because it was still available?

The SY cabin is almost twice the size of the VA with a larger veranda and more amenities. Great choice that I do not think any of us would have turned down.:D

Thanks all for the quick response. It just seemed to good to be true. Now it's got me wondering if I should spring the the extra $200 ea. to go all the way and get a Deluxe for the perks.

Hi Karen, By the way, I love Yuma (I'm originally from AZ) and spent five days in your town a few years back.
I would definitely take the Deluxe Suite Upgrade if available for $200 PP. We were on the Zuiderdam in January of this year for the partial Panama Canal cruise right across from the Neptune Lounge. That's a great price and sure worth the difference. The ship became one of our favorites, especially the staff.
Happy Cruising,
Ken

Photos can be seen here of VA 5187 http://abqreunion2008.com/Zuiderdam/Deck-5.html and you can compare them to SY 6068 on sister ships to the Zuiderdam here:
Westerdam SY 6054 and 6055 http://joanjett2000.topcities.com/HAL/Westerdam/Deck-6.html
Oosterdam SY 6074, 6100 or 6113 http://joanjett2000.topcities.com/HAL/Oosterdam/Deck-6.html
Noordam SY 6068 http://joanjett2000.topcities.com/HAL/Noordam/Deck-6.html
As you can see, the SY's are larger than the Aft VA's but the locations are different (I know you already know that, but had to mention it) and you lose that gorgeous Aft view that many of us are not willing to give up.
Basically the only differences between any of the SY Staterooms is the location and the furniture and decor the only difference beetween the sister ships.
Have a blast and be happy:)

Thanks for the input. I think I'll run it by Mom and see what she thinks. I'm new to HAL (Mom's a two star) and see what she thinks. She's 82 and legally blind so I think the perks my really help her out especially the private breakfast and priority tenders.

I would grab the Deluxe right now while it is still available.

If you can get the deluxe for $200 more pp I'd go for it. Not only priority tendering but she could enjoy a nice relaxing breakfast in the Pinnacle , enjoy the Neptune lounge, free laundry, just so many more perks. Can you book it and surprise her! Good luck and hope it all works out.:)

Good Idea Canadianbear. I may just surprise her! It would be a guaranteed SC but the way I figure it there's no where to go but up and we'd still get the perks even if we received a SC.

Take the SC guarantee! You won't regret it.
As far as cooling off, ha, we're still waiting for the temps to drop!
