View Full Version : Wine corkage - silly question?

I have searched the threads - really I have, so apologies if this question has been answered before. I understand that there will be a corkage fee for bringing our own wine to the dining room or lounges, but does this apply only to the MDR or does the corkage fee apply to the Lido too? Thanks as always for your advice.

The corkage fee will apply if you take your own wine to drink in any bar or eating place on the ship.

The only place you can drink what you bring on-board, without being charged, is in your cabin.

Absolutely correct -- even if you take your own bottle to the Pinnacle -- there will still be an $18 per bottle corkage fee.

How about the bottle of wine that is given to you by your TA?

No corkage fee on that bottle as the TA buys it from HAL's stock.

Thanks everyone - just wanted to be perfectly clear!

Just keep in mind that the corkage fee only applies when you bring a bottle into the venue. If you decide to walk into the MDR (or any lounge) with a full glass of wine nobody will object.

What if somebody walked into the Lido with an open bottle...? Unsure why somone would do that, but...

Bringing your wine bottle into a dining venue or bar is cause for being charged the corkage fee if the wine was not purchased from HAL, corked or already uncorked. The reason for the fee is not for the actual physical act of having the wine steward uncork the bottle. The fee is for drinking wine for which HAL did not receive payment.

edit: co-typing with peaches :)

Just bring a large glass of wine into the MDR with you from your own (stateroom) supply! ;) There won't be any corkage fee imposed for a glass, (as opposed to a bottle)! :D

More to pack.. I'd rather just pay the corkage fee... or buy HAL's wine. ;)
