Just returned from the Noordam and wanted to post a situation that might help someone in the future. At the time we booked our cruise, only SC guarantees were available, The price was very good so we booked. Like everyone else we were nervous about about getting the HC cabin. Our friends who were doing the exact booking were able to switch to 6177 a few weeks in. We kept on watching but no other SC cabins became available.
Two weeks out I found out, by logging into the HAL site we were assigned 5190 a rear aft cabin. We never received any email of the cabin assignment, but was able to print out luggage tags for 5190. All was well and we were happy. On the day of embarkation we were told we had been upgraded to 7049. ( Category SA) A few doors down from the Neptune Lounge.
The only thing I was able to find out was the person originally in 7049 did a switch to 5190.
So if you happen to be in our situation, just be aware that your cabin can still be changed anytime up to embarkation.
