I will be sailing the Zuiderdam for the first time. I am booked in SS#8097. As the ship is filling up I see that there are only a few SS cabins left and they are all very near to mine. I would think that usually the best cabins go first. Which makes me wonder if I made a bad choice. I thought I chose a good location being the uppermost deck with staterooms and we wanted to be a little towards the aft. So for you experienced HAL cruisers, did I make a bad selection? Is there something I overlooked that makes this a bad location?

I just came back from my first cruise. It also was on the Zuiderdam. We had an SS cabin on the 6th deck and loved it. The only thing I heard anyone complain about was your cabin I believe is under the Lido Pool area so you might hear some of the chairs being moved at certain times. Other than that I don't think there is a bad cabin on the ship. Have fun, I wish I was going with you. Got to get off this board and go to work. I have started my review today. Check it out will finish it later. Bye:)

8097 is right under the aft-most section of the Lido Restaurant. That shouldn't be a problem. The only issue may be that your verandah will not be entirely private. The people in 8099 will be able to see you from the portion of their verandah that sticks out a bit.

At least, that's what it looks like to me when I glance at the deck plans.

Cathy, which cabin did you have? We're booked in 6094 in Dec. Can't wait to read your review. :D

OH, liv2cruise4ever....I bet you have Charles as your cabin steward. He is wonderful. Telling Cathy and Wayne said hello and hope to see him again. You will love it. My review is finished. Hope it helps you. Have fun and take me with you. Oh I guess not. DH does not know how to cook.:p

You probably will only be in your cabin to sleep and change so don't worry about it too much. It will be fine.

As Revneal said, you may want to look at the deck plan in case the potential privacy issue might make you select a different cabin. I think you will love the SS cabin.....Click here for Zuiderdam deck plans (http://leisure.travelocity.com/Vacations/Cruise/Ship/DeckPlans/0,2443,TRAVELOCITY_153_1035_,00.html)

Thanks for the advice! I was going to try to switch to either #8099 or #8094 as the cabins look larger on the deck plans, but according to HAL they are actually smaller. Does anyone know for sure?
