Several of us on the 3/26 Oosterdam sailing would love to hear about your trip! Smooth sea? Whale sightings from onboard? Cuisine? Did anyone do an ATV excursion in Cabo, Randi's Horses in Mazatlan, or Las Caletas in PV? Thanks for replying with any information.

We sailed on the Oosterdam on February 25-March 5. I will try to answer some of your questions.
1. The seas were pretty good for most of the cruise. It was a little rougher the last day and evening but there was a storm in San Diego.
2. Yes, we did see some whales and some dolphins from on board. Look for the whales spouting while on your verandah or in the Lido or decks.
3. As far as food goes my husband and I are not hard to please so the food was fine. We ate twice in the Pinnacle Grill and would highly recommend the clam chowder, filet mignon and the chocolate volcano cake. In the dining room we liked the jumbo shrimp cocktail and the pizza and the bread pudding at the Lido buffet were also good.
4. We did the Las Caletas tour in Puerto Vallarta. We loved it. They entertain you on the boat on the way over and on the way back. We both had massages while there. It was $25.00 for 30 minutes and worth it. The sign up for massages was on the boat on the way over. I enjoyed listening to the waves while having a massage. We did the snorkeling - not as good as Hawaii but we still had fun. We would do Las Caletas again in a minute.

Thanks for your really fast reply! Now we're really excited! Don't suppose you happen to remember about where the ship was when you spotted whales? Our cabin will be on the port side of the ship and I was hoping to see them from there. I love the balcony! I understand some of the whale watching excursions have been canceled, so I'm hoping we'll see them from the ship as they head North! Thanks again!

I think most of the whales we saw were down around the Cabo area. We also had a port cabin so we saw the sunrises every morning on the way down and the sunsets on the way back. We had breakfast on the verandah the morning we were in Cabo with a view of the arches. Quite a nice way to start the day!
