We just booked a Mediterranean cruise for next April and it's our first time with HAL. Heard great things about the afternoon tea and would like to give it a try. Does anyone know when the afternoon tea will be served? Just trying to determine when we should book our dinner at the specialty restaurants.
We will be at Istanbul for an overnight but don't arrive at Istanbul until 5PM, will the afternoon tea be served on the arrival day?
Any other info you can provide regarding afternoon tea will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!:)

Going from my feeble memory, it is usually at 3:00 or 4:00 and I think only on sea days.

Usually at 3. If they have an Indonesian Tea don't miss it. It's really lovely.....and I'm not a tea person.

There are three 'special' teas - Royal Dutch High Tea, Indonesian Tea, and cupcake tea. All are very nice. They usually occur on sea days, mid- afternoon. These are all served in the MDR.
I think (and could be wrong), that there is 'afternoon tea offered in the crowsnest, or some other location on a much smaller scale.

What's "special" about the Royal Dutch and Indonesian Teas? Also, can you find out in advance when they will be served? We like to have friends in for High Tea at least once on our HAL trips, and doing it on a day when something special was being offered would be nice. (Not that the usual selection of food that is sent for tea isn't already nice!)

Thank you all for your replies. We only have 2 sea days so looks like we won't get to try all the 3 'special' teas, but we'll be happy with trying just 2. Looks like we have to book our dinner later than we thought just so we have room for our dinner. Thanks again!

The Indonesian tea has Indonesian coffees and teas....I really like their spiced tea. They also serve banana fritters and rice cakes and balls. I thought that the rice balls tasted like rice pudding. The waiters dress in Indonesian costume. The goodies are definitely different, but I believe that they still offer scones and cream?

Thanks again!I checked a couple of sets of daily programs, and in them tea was at 3:00 every day except embarkation day, and the "special" ones were not always on sea days.
