What are differences between them. I am going on the Ryndam to Alaska, what class is this ship and how do you get to the bow. Thanks for the info.

Ryndam is an S class Ship - same as Statendam, Maasdam, & Veendam.

Don't know how you get to the bow.

posted in the fall. I believe Greg (RevNeal) has all the info. It shouldn't be too different for the S and R class. Far forward on the Promenade deck (4). forward of the show lounge.

From the open deck on Verandah Deck forward, there are two staircases - one at each corner - that descend into a sort of crew's area in the corners behind the showlounge that will get you to a hatch that will be left open when the crew want to make the bow area available to passengers.

You can access the open area on Verandah Deck forward either from the inside through doors near the the front, or via the outdoor staircases that descend from the open deck in front of the gym, past the bridge wings, to the open deck area below.

The STATENDAM-class (aka S-class) ships are STATENDAM, MAASDAM, RYNDAM, and VEENDAM.

The ROTTERDAM-class (aka R-class) ships are ROTTERDAM, VOLENDAM, ZAANDAM, and AMSTERDAM.

The Vista-class ships are ZUIDERDAM, OOSTERDAM, WESTERDAM, and NOORDAM.

And PRINSENDAM... Is in a class of her own!

the Rotterdam ships are modified Statendam class ships and are a tick larger. Main difference I can find is the inclusion of the Italian restaurant on R ships. The S ships don't have them. Layouts and feel are very similar.

I believe all HAL ships have a Pinnacle Grill. The old Marco Polo and Odyssey restaurants are now called the Pinnacle Grill.
The Statendam class ships are 720 ft long with no midship stairs or elevators.
The Rotterdam class are approximately 780 ft and include midships stairs and elevators.
There are a few other differences, but these are the main ones.

And having the mid-ship elevators is a really nice feature.
