Thanks for the link. I will be going there in about 45 minutes in case some leave early. The Harbor Master will start sending ships early.

Just saw the Ruby Princess sail away. I much prefer the sound of the HAL Ship Horn:)

Thanks for posting! I pulled the webcam up. However I have a question - when I zoomed in the ship labeled Westerdam, it shows a water slide! When did the Westerdam get one of those??? :eek: Most likely mislabeled, but now I can't find the real Westerdam! Or maybe I'm just looking at the wrong ship? Anyway, no matter what ship I'm looking at, I wish I was on it! :)

I'm officially addicted, I got up at 4am to watch the ships come in and now I'm watching them sail out.

OMG I do not think I have ever heard a ships horn sound as much as the Westerdam today:D There has got to be the two HAL ships sounding their horns together. Way too much fun, wish i was there. :o

Are you referring to the overhead view, below the webcam view? If so, that is not live -- it's a satellite capture that Google Maps uses. The ship positions superimposed on that map are (somewhat) live, so it can make it appear as if the named ship is actually the one showing on the screen, which may very well not be the case.

Thanks so much for that info. That explains why the ship I zoomed in on didn't look anything like the Westerdam and why the Prinsendam looked like it was about the same size as the Nieuw Amsterdam! I figured I must be doing something wrong somewhere. More likely to be me than the port!!! ;)

That was so cool...guess I'm really addicted, too...cut the stems from the brussel sprouts in front of my computer...so as not to miss the sailaways! :o

I think it was pretty close to 5:45 Eastern time.

That would have been about fifteen minutes after I left the site. Are you doing the Nieuw Amsterdam this season?

Yes...the Prinsendam, last ship to leave port, left about that time.

Himself, I wish I was going on the NA but instead I will be doing the Southern Caribbean on the Westerdam in March, then I plan to go on the Zuiderdam for 11 days taking the repositioning and the first week of Alaska in May, then not sure about the rest of the year. Fall actually might be a Crystal cruise for Canada /New England and a NCL Dawn that I have booked.

The Nieuw Amsterdam tops them all, last week and this week.

My travel agent was on the Westerdam today. I think I saw him and his family waving from their suite.

It is fun to click on the icons for each ship to see where it is headed. Last weekend, when I zoomed out, I could see that there were six ships leaving Port Everglades and five or six ships leaving Miami at the same time.

I, too, have found myself watching the ships sail in to port in the morning and sail away later that day.

I love seeing cruise ships! I love them more when I am on them!
