I was thinking of renting one of the cabana's on the top deck of the Eurodam for the week of my cruise. The ship is in port 4 of the seven days so I wanted to get one for the other days but was told that I could only get one for the week and if there were any available during the cruise the would be rented by the day.

Has anyone rented one of these and if so do you just leave it empty the days you are in port or can you let someone else who is not leaving the ship use it? They told me you need a key to get to that area of the ship so that it is private. Comments on whether it is worth doing and experiences would be appreciated. The HAL rep told me that they had some available on the Lido deck too but those were not as desirable because they are in a busier location.

Thanks for your answers.

The door leading there also goes to a stairway up to the roof of the Crow's Nest, which is a public area. At the foot of those stairs there's just a rope blocking entry to the Retreat.

The pool-side cabanas also just have a rope to keep non-renters out of them.

I'm on the N. Amsterdam 01/01/12 and would loke to know what is the cost, how do I rent one, and what do you get by renting one?

We made the mistake of not booking a week when we were aboard the Eurodam recently. Thus we could only get 4 days.
The Cabanas absolutely 'made' the trip for us. The privacy and ability to relax in private was wonderful. Both pool areas were quite crowded and there was never ending loud music.
The 2 Cabana attendants Dexter and his colleague were absolutely outstanding and could not do enough for you. They bring you mimosas in the morning, plates of sliced fruit and serve you a light lunch at your table. They are on call if want them, but don't bother you if you don@t.
In my view the cabanas are the best value on the ship.
