Is there a must see at this stop.

An island tour is nice because you'll get gread views of the bays and other islands. Cane Garden Bay is the main destination for cruisers so gets very busy.

see the What to do in Tortola thread for beach and tour info.

When (not if) you go to Cane Garden Bay MAKE SURE that you visit the Callwood distillery for a tour (google it ). On departing MAKE SURE you buy a bottle (not a small bottle as I stupidly did) of their "Lady Rum". As someone who would not call himself a rum drinker I agree with the sentiment that I read via google that drinking it is more of a religious experience, than a drink. They are wise enough to put plastic caps on their bottles,so smuggling them back on board is not prohibitive. Enjoy your (unofficial) tour of Tortola (picked up just off the boat).
The inhabitants, especially the drivers are some of the best in Caribbean, not pushy and surly as in St Martin for instance. It's a beautiful island and has made me think of it as a destination for a future (non cruise) holiday.
Regards Happy Bobby

That is really not accurate, White Bay is pretty but it is one of the most crowded beaches in the BVI because cats and tour boats stop in throughout the day. It may be quieter on some days but that's rare. If you're looking for a fun spot definitely hit |White Bay or Great Harbor and Foxy's.

Smuggler's Cove on Tortola is a beautiful beach with powdered sugar sand, calm water, and Patricia's excellent grill.

Hladygirl not trying to be disrespectful. I do get tired of seeing posts that are somewhat misleading and can lead people to a spot that they expected to be different, that's all. The bars are fun and the bay is very pretty. But on a typical day White Bay is crowded.

You say you speak from past experience, and I'm assuming you were there once when there was a lull in the arrival of daytrippers. I said it can be quieter some days, and it definitely hes quiet in the evenings.

But people go to White Bay to enjoy cocktails, interact with others, and enjoy the music and the vibe. It is almost always a very busy spot, especially around the Soggy $.

Your description better describes Smuggler's - have you been there?

That's a great tour, thanks for sharing! I would add a ride over a couple of the hills to capture some of the most spectacular views in the Caribbean!

Have been thinking of renting a car, but I will miss out on the scenery if I am driving. How much was your tour and did it involve much walking. I suffer from arthritis and have limited mobility.

This sounds just what we're looking for. Would welcome details of where to get the tour bus and approximate cost.

Thanx

There are some historical spots worth visiting, the highlights are the views of the bays from the hilltops and some of the beaches. What are you interested in?
