First off, my apologies if this has been addressed before, but honestly i tried to check! (Really, I did!!):D

I will be travelling with my mom and a friend of hers aboard Oosterdam on 26 April and each of us will be wanting to settle our on-board accounts separately. My question is twofold :
1) Should we each fill out a credit card authorization form prior to boarding
2) When charges are posted to the stateroom account, is it tracked and invoiced by person (or roomcharge card), or as in a hotel all charges are on one folio and we will just have to go over it the last night on board and settle up separately with the front office?!

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

You will be pleased to know that each of you can register
your own credit card for your individual charges. If you don't
register them at check in - you can go to the
front desk on board the ship and do so. Then you will each have
your own separate room card for your charges. And you will
receive separate final statements. Have a wonderful cruise.

Thank you so much for the information. Every little bit of info acquired in advance allows much more fun when the cruise begins!

Thank you so much!

One important thing to remember. You will each be given (actually already have somewhere in the system) a suffix number for your cabin - "1", "2" or "3". For ease of it all, it is critical that when you charge something (like drinks) and so not give them you room card, that you identify yourself by Cabin AND suffix. Such as Cabin D-414 No. 1. Then the charge should be put on the right account. This will also be on your card, but I have found that after the first few days the drink steward simpy ask for your cabin number. Adding the 1 - 2 - or 3 will help keep the charges seperate.

Even couples are identified as "1" or "2", but if they only want one bill it is an unused feature. However, when I travel with a friend it keeps everything straight, or at least has my my trips.

In December on the Zaandam, even though my husband and I were on the same credit card, the end of week statements were printed out separately for each of us -- just ultimately charged to the same credit card account. It made it much easier for us to track our charges that way and it must, then be very simple for the cruise line to charge each individual to a different credit card if they wish!

I travel with a male friend and we each register our own credit cards at time of check-in. But we never give our "suffix" number when we charge something to our cabin, such as drinks, etc. We always assume at some point during the cruise, the HAL servers/store, etc. will charge something incorrectly to one of us, but they are pretty smart --- they figure out that one of us is female and the other is male, so they have never made a mistake. And even if they did, my friend and I would settle up on our own.

On our March 5 Oosterdam cruise they took the cabin card each time in the shops or lounges even for cans of soda. Last summer on another HAL ship we were usually just asked our room number. I did like being asked for the card each time as it meant another passenger couldn't give the wrong cabin number. In the past we've always had a wrong item or two on our bill, but this time it was completely correct.

My mom and I just got back from a cruise, and we just had to state our cabin number and first name, and they got everything charged to the correct account.
