Good Morning from the Chilly but Sunny West Coast.
The Oosterdam has arrived back in San Diego after a fun filled week in Mexico and she will head out tonight on her third Hawaii Run of the Season :) But before she goes at 5:00pm there is an Excited Group of CCers that will be doing the Web Cam Banner Wave at 3:00pm so stay tuned for up coming pictures this afternoon.
This morning when I checked into the web cam, I had to take a double take because there was the Crystal Symphony instead of the Oosterdam :D It seems I remember hearing that the Oosterdam would be on the other side due to some maintence and the refueling that needed to be done. Although I could have done a Web Cam Wave from the Symphony today because a co-worker is on board this ship this week :)

I too would love to be sailing to Hawaii today. However, December is a busy month for me.
I will do it after I retire from Active ministry.

Another sucessful Banner Wave on the Oosterdam. Today we had a group that was very much looking forward to heading to Hawaii. Vada says today's weather in San Diego was just beautiful and very warm out there on deck 5 over looking the Bow.
Below are the pictures I captured as CCers were arriving.

Happy cruising to Hawaii, your wave looked good, though it looked a little foggy down there in SD, but maybe it was the camera or my eye sight:D Great capture Lisa.

Because the flags were in the way I had them move over some.

Then for the Big Wave

Please excurse the lighting or coloring I do these on Snapfish and I think because the sun is so bright at this angle the pictures look truly washed out so snapfish is trying to correct the photo, the one below it did not.

And one more pic as they put away the Banner till the next time the Oosterdam is back in San Diego, which will be December 24th. Right now we have no CCer's that have signed up for the Web Cam Wave.

No it was not foggy the problem was where the ship was and the time of day this time of year. The sun is shining right into the camera making it seem foggy and wash out the pictures/web cam. It will not be till mid January when it starts to get better again. Of course it did not help where the ship was today. When it is over on the other side it helps.

The only thing that the banner wave missed was the 20 or so guests who were denied boarding because they did not have proof of US citizenship.
Yes, the cruise goes to the Hawaiian Islands, and they are one of the 50 states; however,
once the ship travels 3 miles west, it is in international waters.
To make things worse, you cannot join the ship at the first port, or any of the other ports due to the itinerary. No refunds or credit are offered, you just loose thousands of dollars.
Travel agents know the requirements, but nowadays most guests book online and do not read the documents that are sent regarding boarding. It's a very sad situation.

Actually not so. There were a number of those denied boarding who flew to the islands and joined in either Hilo or Honolulu. They were billed and had to pay the $350.00 fee for the Jones Act violation.

Point is don't make it a habit of not showing up without proof of citizenship for the Hawaii trip. The Hotel Mgr was being kind this time,
on the inaugural Oosterdam Hawaii run, he wasn't as accommodating.

Well first off it was two different Hotel Managers the one that was on the Inaugural Hawaii for the Oosterdam left to go to another ship. And not really sure it it is the Hotel manager that will make that decision could be but not for sure.

Bottom line -always travel with your passport:) Canadians have to:) Everyone should = it's a lot safer - JMO:)

I don't think anyone gets on a ship without a passport.
