Taking the 31 day Spirit Pacific crossing as an example look at how the Veranda's are priced based on their location (forward less expensive, more mid ship more expensive)
Silversea is taking a page out of the Seabourn model for pricing Veranda's. Guess every revenue stream helps. Do like the 16 day fall Spirit crossing in Nov, 2013--does include Gibralter as a port stop goes all the way to Ft. Lauderdale--includes air and is a Venetian sailing...and the Rome to Barcelona preceding looks nice too.

Silver Suite $55,398 $27,699
$38,798 $19,399
$37,798 $18,899
$36,598 $18,299
$35,598 $17,799
$34,598 $17,299
$33,598 $16,799
Vista Suite $31,198 $15,599

Thanks Col Wes, using the same 31 day voyage the UK prices are:

Silver Suite £18,899
B6 £13,299
B5 £12,999
B4 £12,599
B3 £12,299
B2 £11,899
B1 £11,499
Vista £10,699

There are no full fares shown on the UK website, only the discounted ones. Interesting that the effective exchange rate is approx £1 to $1.46. Does SS know something about the forward $ pricing that the rest of us do not.

Haven't midship verandahs always been more expensive than regular verandahs? Are they now differentiating between decks?

Yes Henry SS is now differentiating Verandas depending on the deck you book on (only the Shadow, Whisper, Spirit, not Cloud, Wind). Higher up, more mid ship means more $$. There is a 3% price differential as you go up decks.

Not ALWAYS. Don't remember exactly when the premium $$ went into effect but within "recent" memory.

You're right, dusababy, not always. At the outset of SS all verandahs were priced the same. But then they also included travel insurance, taxis from the port to hotel or airport and other goodies which are but a memory. It has been quite a while though since they differentiated midship verandahs from forward or stern ones. And now they seem to be following Seabourn's lead and differentiating by deck.

The new deck plans are now present on the SS website. These are for Spirit, Shadow, and Whisper. Cloud and Wind are unchanged. Not quite the way I would have arranged the categories.

Wripro -- Considering how things have changed, I'm torn between hating to remember and gratitude that we experienced it.

1996 Arriving Rome to board Wind we were met by SS rep who took us to our private car, a brand new Lancia sedan, for transfer to Rome's Cavaliera Hilton with a balcony room overlooking the Vatican in the distance. All this was included in the cruise fare....I don't recall exactly but I think we probably paid for an upgrade to business class LAX/LHR/FCO. I do know we flew business.

Lots of changes, and still the best IMO --:)

December 2012-Jan 2013 and the CP was $87,000. Now Silversea came out with a very similar itinerary and the OS is only $44,000 for the same amount of nights. I am impressed. No question...I am going Silversea! Good for them for not price gouging.

Hi Caroldoll,

You make a great point. I keep receiving brochures from Regent in the mail and when I look at their fares they are much higher than Silversea's...and there is no shipboard credit. Granted some of the excursions are free, but overall I'll stick with SS.

are not exactly exciting and I see they have a lot of 7 day cruises, but you can do B2B's. I was astounded by the price difference and as was my TA who is BIG on Crystal. I will not do Regent as I do not like ship tours, so why pay for something you don't use? I think their prices are somewhat out of whack too. Personally I don't like their dining policy, i.e. you can only dine in each specialty restaurant twice. Frankly, I think seasoned cruisers don't want to be told what to do and what to wear. Silversea suits me. We are, however, trying Seabourn, and in fact leaving today for Asia. They were the only one who went to Asia over Christmas, so it was kind of take it or leave it!

Dusababy,

I'm going to relish the memory of how it used to be. It's still pretty darn good anyway.
