Hi everyone!

We're working on planning a group cruise to Alaska in '06 and before we approach LauraS, want to have more of a plan in place.

When you vote, please select the answer that suits you most at this time. Since schedules don't come out until next month, we won't be able to have more concrete data.

Also, once you vote, please feel free to list specific requests/dates/etc. in your post.

Once we have some more data, we can move forward from that point.

Thanks,

Tiffany

We can go in July, but not before. As a teacher, I'm limited to cruising when out of school. Thanks for putting this together.

No problem! I'm just hoping we can get enough people interested in one sailing to create a group...I just think it would be so much fun!

I voted round-trip in May, but I would equally accept a one-way in May.
I am hoping that even if the majority decide on a date I can't go that atleast a couple here can go when I can.

:) Hi, everyone

We are interested in a May '06 Vancouver round trip or a Southbound one way in May '06. The return from a Northbound itinerary is difficult.

We are sailing the May 11 Alaska roundtrip on the Volendam this year ('05). I should have great info on the trip when we return. Hopefully, it will be so wonderful we'll be ready to sign up for the same itinerary again. We have been to Alaska 2X's before, but this will be our first on HAL. However, everyone needs to be aware that the Volendam departs and returns on a WEDNESDAY. This is somewhat inconvenient and I'm not sure we would want to do it again.

Please bear in mind, these are our preferences. If the group wants to go another time, we'll see if it works for us.

I was disappointed that there was no option for Seattle R/T. I understand why, but still disappointed. So, count this as one vote for a Seattle R/T. Thanks! :)

Bill, I agree with you, I voted the May Vancouver but would prefer Seattle. Actually just like you are doing this year:)

Bill and Lisa...

Sorry for leaving Seattle out of the original poll

I will put your votes down as a Seattle departure...no problem. Once we settle on the month, we'll find a couple different dates and include Seattle AND Vancouver as options.

Looks like July is getting the most votes so far...

Tiffany,

I voted for May RT from Vancouver however early June would be fine too!

If I'm still on this side of the sunshine I'm going back to Alaska in '06; this time I'm bringing my older grandgirl. That means the timing is after school lets out on the East coast, so very late June is possible. July is better.
We need to be back before her sister's birthday on July 26.

I'm happy with a Vancouver round-trip (preferably not a Vista ship) or a southbound from Seward.

Couldn't vote as the choice we are looking at isn't listed.

Would like to do the Ryndam in June from Vancouver to Seward and then back down - 14 days.

Voted for May Vancouver R-T, but Seattle would be fine, too, as Seattle RT airfares are cheaper than Vancouver.

OTOH, I am a member of a club which enjoys reciprocity with a private club in Vancouver, so that is a plus for Vancouver.

Prefer longer (14 days) to shorter (7 days).
Prefer lower prices to higher prices, so May might be preferable to July.
Would particularly prefer a May cruise, BTB with a repositioning cruise sailing from San Diego (e.g., Oosterdam, Rhyndam, etc.)

Anyone else interested in a CC cruise to Alaska? There are lots of options...

Waiting to see what the majority chooses because I really don't know what is the best route for the next cruise--this cruise is a r/t from Seattle on the
Amsterdam (May 29) for 7 days.

A longer cruise is fine, 7 to 11 days is fine, small (but nice) ship is preferable, roundtrip or one way is fine, Seattle or Vancouver is fine, time of year preferable is when we can go to Denali or other inside places that are open.

As you can see, we are flexible. Just would like to see the best ports so some of you can probably tell us what those are.

Looking forward to meeting many of you if this all works.:)

Looks like we could have several groups onboard? I am putting together a cruise for the second week of June. It will consist of a bunch of barbershop singers along with family and friends or anyone else who wants to go and have a great time. This group went to the Caribbian in April of 2004 and performed at the sailaway party and twice in the Queens Lounge on the Zuiderdam! Want to come with us? We'll sing our way trough Alaska!

First choice -- RT Vancouver, May -- Glacier Bay itinerary

Reasons - my travel buddy has not been to Vancouver yet, airfare Rt Vancouver is cheaper than open-jaw Anchorage, May has better weather than July (less rain), and rates are MUCH lower in May. All pretty good reasons.

Second choice -- RT Seattle -- only if Glacier Bay itinerary

Reasons -- I have not been to Seattle other than the Vancouver-to-SeaTac shuttle run, and airfare RT Seattle is less expensive than RT Vancouver. Would LOVE to do Diamond Princess if it does Glacier Bay RT Seattle.

I want to sail in May because of better weather, lower rates, and NO CHILDREN.

Hi everyone!

Well, there is a pretty good distribution of preferences across the board...which makes it difficult to plan a group cruise. At this stage in the game, I'm going to step down from trying to put this together.

I was over on the Alaska board where there have been several threads about Alaska in '06 and there seems to be a great amount of interest in a Princess trip in July...so, I've posted a similar poll/question in that board to see where things go. My goal is to get as many CC'rs together for an Alaskan trip...so I must go where the majority lies.

I've yet to sail on Princess but I understand they do a great job in Alaska as well. So, if any of you are interested in a group trip, here's the link to the thread... http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=155027

Thanks to those of you who have posted your interest...and good luck with your Alaska plans! :)

Tiff,

Thanks for trying. I can only go in the summer but there were so many diverse choices on the poll that it doesn't look as if this will fly.

Not that diverse really. Equally divided between May and July round trip.
Could easily be made into two groups. Or does there have to be a minimum number of people to offer an official group cruise?

What I mean is.....why not just try to get people to choose the best date for them so they can atleast see some people they have met here to meet on the ship. Maybe not big enough for special group rates, but atleast you will know someone when you board.
