I understand it is because the Air Passenger Duty has got so high. I personally think they are making a mistake. We had a wonderful Caribbean cruises on Braemar in February, but don't think she is suitable for the Atlantic in the winter!

not only APD I think it is the overall cost of chartering aircraft, airport charges etc. My parents have done Christmas in the Caribbean for the last 8+ years, staying on for 2 cruises, flying out and back. Next year they are booked on the Jan sail out and sail back (35 days) but that may be their last and they will look possibly at Azamara also

Its not just FOCL, many UK based cruiselines and indeed European based are pulling back from fly cruises and offering longer TA and Caribbean cruises. The Atlantic crossing if taken south, i.e Madeira to Caribbean is usually not so bad as a north Atlantic crossing, but we have the Bay of Bisacy to contend with then:D
