View Full Version : Eurodam - Lido vs Sea View Pools

Sailing 1/7/12 on the Eurodam... YEAH!
I am wondering about the different pools.
It looks (from the photos) like the Lido Pool area is a bit small and confined. I understand this is the FAMILY pool. But also looks like this pool is the only one that has ANY shade.
The Sea View Pool is "supposed" to be the adult pool. Which is where I'd prefer to spend my day. Can anyone tell me if there is any shade at the Sea View Pool?
Also, can you hear the live music that (again in photos) appears to be in the Lido Pool area??
I LOVE to lay in the sun & listen to the Caribbean sounds the bands play. However, my Mom is going with us & she needs to stay out of the sun.
THANKS!

Yes -- there is shade at the Sea View aft pool.
There was only piped in music when we were on her.
The HAL Cats only play for a short time by the Lido Pool which you can not hear at the aft pool as the Lido buffet area is between these 2 areas.

Lido pool area IS small & cramped, especially since they replaced seating space with the rental cabanas down there (taking up the entire one side of the pool area). There might be some shade in the smoking area by the outside bar near the Sea View pool, but out by the pool itself it's all sunshine. I personally can't stand the lido area - and if I wasn't able to enjoy the sun I'd be sitting down on the shady promenade deck. The lido can be cramped & noisy at times, especially if there are kids on board.

One more thing - your best bet would be to book a Retreat Cabana. It's doubtful any are still left since your cruise is less than a month away, but if you're able to get one it'll be the best $299 you'll spend! You'll have comfortable shaded chaise lounges (cushioned chairs - not the cheap stuff by the pools) as well as a shared sunny area for you. Plus, your cabana is there for you every day - and if you leave for lunch or just don't show up until 2pm some day you have peace of mind knowing your spot will be empty and waiting for you.
To book one, call HAL.

Thanks! I have looked into the Retreat Cabanas. To book in advance, you have to book it for the entire week... but since we're only at sea two days, I was thinking about taking my chances & booking one once I'm onboard for the "at sea" days (IF there is one available).
However, I see that they aren't near the pool at all.... which I do want. I'm a people watcher! :D
So.... Not sure how the pool situation will work.
THANKS for your insight.

Another vote for the lido and Retreat Cabanas.

That would be a blessing in my book, it may just be me but I usually find them to be pretty bad.

I agree - and too loud.

Since you're sailing on January 7, it very well could be that you have fewer children on board since school will likely be back in session (at least in the south). I did not find the distractions and "cramped" spaces to be an issue at the Lido Pool-- in fact, on our November Eurodam cruise, the Lido area was considerably less crowded than the aft pool!

That's why we love the aft pool, i.e., SeaView Pool! ;)

I have to agree, just good for a few laughs.
