Due to a problem on a previous cruise HAL has given me OBC for my next one - Hawaii in April. Can this be used for paying the daily tips? Or only for purchases such as drinks? Thanks in advance.

An on-board credit can be used for anything. It appears on your statement as a generic credit and will be applied against whatever your charges are, including the daily hotel service charge.

It can be used for the Hotel Service Charge, shopping on board the ship, shore excursions you buy on the ship, drinks, etc.
The only thing you can not use it for is the Casino.

The only thing you can not use it for is the Casino.Not exactly. If you transfer money to your room key-card in the slot machines the OBC would be offsetting that too.
