We are leaving on the Westerdam Sunday, March 27th. Does anyone know if the ship will hold any Easter services on board? I have cruised other ships on Easter and attended services but wasn't sure if there would be a service on the day of departure.

HAL has Sunday and daily Mass. I assume they would have a Mass around 5 p.m.

Any possibility you could go to an early Mass in the port of departure? Or Easter Vigil the night before? That way you wouldn't worry!
Last year on the Maasdam over Holy Week and Easter we had every liturgy prescribed, but we didn't set sail on a Sunday.

My strong suggestion would be to get to Mass at either the Easter Vigil on Saturday night or get to a Mass on Sunday Morning. Perhaps you could call HAL and they might know the answer. I have never sailed on Sunday. However, there is normally not a Mass on the day of sail or on the day of we leave the ship. I would think the safer course would be to get to Mass before you embark. Go to the HAL website and call the home office and verify this information.
The Mass the following Saturday will be in the evening and it will be the anticipated Mass.

Does anyone know if there will be services other than Mass on the Zaandam on Easter. We will happily go to Mass if that is the only one.

There's a website I use when I travel called http://www.massintransit.com/. It's a little hard to navigate, sometimes, but here's the page if you're looking for a church near Ft. Lauderdale http://www.masstimes.org/dotNet/showchurches.aspx?type=AIRPORT&q=Fort+Lauderdale&city=Fort+Lauderdale&statecode=FL&state=Florida&country=United+States+of+America&countrycode=US
mileage is given from the airport.
If you want to do it the "hard" way, you can go to the diocese website of your port, look for parishes in the city, and simply call one and ask, "which church is nearest the port?" We'll do the same thing when we depart on the Westerdam, April 10th.:)

The closest Catholic Church to Port Everglades is St. Sebastian. It is only about 5 or 10 minutes away.

Is that St. Sebastian's the Church we see as we are pulling out of Port Everglades and heading to the Sea?

I'm pretty sure that would be it. It would be on the left side before the condominiums.

I know where it is then. I have never been in there but I have seen it many times. A Blessed Easter to all.
