That says it all. Sailing in Aug. Carnival said it was OK. Will HAL say anything?

This current thread (http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=153267) discusses this and has info from HAL's website. Personally, I would get a new passport. There is plenty of time and travel will be so much easier, IMO.

Ditto. You have time to get another passport. Another good reason to replace your passport is it's another from of legal identification - if you ever lose your driver's license/ss card. I did recently. In my state you need a ss card to get a replacement driver's license, you need a picture ID to get past the security at the Federal Building to go in person and order a new ss card. If you lose both you have a problem. Having a passport gives you that identification if you need it.

Instead of asking a group of pseudonymous strangers, and possibly even worse cruise line reps, try your very own US State Department. The official passport web site is at:

Well in this case the information given here and by the cruiseline is accurate, An original BC and drivers license will work for most ports (I don't know the OPs itinerary to be 100% sure), but a passport is a preferred document. There is indeed time to get another before a cruise in August, and as an original member of the Passport Pushers Society (PPS), I would not have the oppurtunity to pontificate on this topic if the OP had foolishly followed your advice!:p :D Got it Stevesan?:D
