We will be purchasing the FCC and booking Veendam to Bermuda when we are on Eurodam next week.
We have been very fortunate that on our 4 HAL cruises 3rd and 4th have been free in our cabin. This summer we will be paying a very small amount for our son. In the past we have just done 2 FCCs for myself and DH.
We have heard conflicting stories as to whether 3rd gets onboard credit with the FCC.
1) Should we get 3 to include him since we will be paying for him this time? If not, would we pay the $350 deposit even though with port he will cost less than that?
2) If we do the FCC for him and the free promo comes back, what will happen to the FCC for him? Can it be applied to port charges?
He is just turning 18 and our daughter will be abroad for the next few years--we hope to visit her and our cruising days could be rare with him.
I don't know if he could use it the next few years if not to Bermuda.
What info or advice can you give?
Thank you!

Becky, you never need three FCC's for a booking. Even if you applied a third Future Cruise Deposit you will not receive any form of ship board credit so it really is not worth doing.
Make your booking for the triple cabin using two FCC. Even if you were not using Future Cruise Deposits you would not need to pay a deposit for the third passenger.

Last Aug on VOV we puchased 3 FCC (one for each of us in cabin). We used the credit on our Eurodam cruise where we added 1 more to our cabin so we had 4 in this cabin. The 3 of us who used the FCC each got our shipboard credit applied. We bought 3 more FCC's on the December cruise and were told we will each get the shipboard credit.

You may definitely want to reconfirm this while you can use a FCC as a down payment, that is all it is for a third or 4th person is extra cash used against the cabin. HAL will not give the additional ship board credit for passengers 3 and 4 if you use a FCC for each person.

do you actually have to book a cruise on board to get the FCC, or can you just pay the $100 and then use it when you actually want to book a cruise (I think I read that has to be within 4 years?)
Thanks (hope this isn't perceived as hijacking the thread)

As far as I know they must be purchased on board.

You actually have to purchase the Futures Cruise Deposits while on a cruise but HAL does allow for someone else to purchase them for you. There have been some posters that have stated that they were denied purchasing for someone else but but Future Cruise Consultants will sell you the FCC for someone else.
Yes they are good for 4 years but.... and that is a big BUT they have made some big exceptions. They will extend the time when you inquire toward the end of the 4 years and in some rare circumstances it can be transferred to another family member.

Sorry, my question wasn't clear I don't think or maybe I am misunderstaning your answers :o. While my hubby and I are on our cruise in just a month from now, we wanted to buy the future cruise credits - one for each of us. But do we have to actually book a cruise while we are onboard to get them, or can you actually buy the FCC only without specifying, at the time, which cruise you will be applying them to?

No, you don't have to book a cruise. You are just paying a deposit for a future, (possibly undetermined at time of purchase,) cruise. You have four years to determine that cruise.

We have often purchased future deposits while cruising -- many times never actually booking a cruise.
When we get -- sometime it may be a few months before we book a new cruise -- we just notify our TA -- give her the numbers of the future cruise deposits and she takes care of the deposits and other details.
They are good for 4 years from the date you purchase them -- they are not refundable and there other a few other restrictions that pertain to the World and Grand Voyages and segements of them.

Princess FCC's are refundible, but HAL's are not.
