I posted a reply below on the dressing up dining room thread below, but thought because of my time frame (it's running out!) I'd better make this a new thread. Please, what/when is the Black & White Ball?? Is this on all HA ships on every cruise? We are sailing on the Oosterdam on Saturday and I am practically packed - desparately need to know which formal night is the B&W ball is there is one on this ship. I hope it's not the first formal night - help please! Thanks you a bunch!

The Black and White Ball is not held on every cruise, and not usually on 7-day cruises. Ten days or longer, and special occasions. It's never the on first formal night that I've ever seen. Generally it's an officer's party after dinner where the officers mingle and dance with pax. We had one on each of our transatlantics but not on our 11 day New Years, and not that I can remember on a ten day NE/Canada either, but I could be wrong about that as it was over 3 years ago.
Don't panic, a lot of people don't even go, and not everyone wears black and white.
