I'd like to send a gift to some friends of mine who are leaving on a cruise next month. Are there outside companies that deliver flowers/wine/gift baskets to ships, or do I have to go through HAL?
Thanks!

You can call any florist/gift basket provider in the embarkation city, most will be familiar with delivering to cruise ships. Just make sure any alcoholic beverages being delivered to the ship conform to what they allow guests to bring on and have in their cabin. You will find a better selection from local vendors than the offerings from the ship.

Thanks! The DW and I had wine and a gift basket sent to relatives of ours who were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary on the Rotterdam in November 04 and we went through HAL. Even on short notice, HAL had everything in the room when they arrived and the couple told us it was very nicely done. IMO it's the most reliable way to go.

What ship and what port?
Here are a couple that were given to me. I have not used any of them, so I don't know the quality.

If you change your mind and decide to go through Ship Services, do a follow up call just prior to your friends' cruise to make sure everything is confirmed. I had tried to send a bottle of bubbly to my mother and her friends aboard the Volendam in February and even though the TA had record of the request, it was never delivered to my mom. It wasn't charged to my VISA either but the surprise opportunity was missed and I was extremely disappointed.
A quick call to confirm a few days in advance may be worth the effort.
