You can bring as much as you want at each port and embarkation. There is also a soda card for $25 that will give you $25 worth of soda :)
If you want to check it in as luggage, but I would never put soda or wine in my luggage. JMO:)

HAL has never objected to my two-per-day ration of Mountain Dew in my carry-on luggage. I think that the security screener looks only for liquor and weapons.

With how thin the cans have become -- I would never back soda in a suitcase.
You take as much as you want onto the ship with you -- it will fit through the security scanner.

It might just be me but at $2.15/can I would just as soon buy it on board. I save my heavy lifting for wine ;).

Last year we bought the soda card. This year, we brought our own. Took it in one of our carry ons. 18 cans between 7 of us. With all the free beverages available (iced tea, lemonade, made our own iced coffes, etc.), we had a lot of soda leftover.

I brought on a 12 pack of diet coke the cruise before last and checked it with my bags. Lets just say, the poor cabin steward had to chase down what was left of the 12 pack to bring to me. I think I got 9 cans. On the last cruise, I just brought it on myself to save the hassle to the baggage handlers and/or my cabin steward. Bring as much as you want though - no worries there! :D

If you buy the soda card can you use it for cans or does it have to be in a glass??

When we went to Alaska, I checked my 12-pack of Diet Pepsi - just used packing tape to apply one of our luggage tags to it, and it arrived with our luggage. I did purchase a soda card too. In hindsight, the soda card was overkill, since by the time we were having our last dinner in the MDR, I still had half the card left. Wound up having our wine steward charge the rest to cans of Diet Coke, so I carried a 12-pack of Diet Coke off the ship in my luggage. Next time, I think BFF & I will split a soda card, since we each had Diet Coke 12-packs to take off.
Oh well, you always learn stuff on your first cruise that you can use for the future....how much longer 'till 2013. I want to go to the Caribbean!

HAL credits any outstanding balances from Soda or Beverage cards to your onboard account when checking out.

Good point, you would think I would have said that!

Bring as many cases as you like.
That said, I have found use of the soda card to be much more convenient.
It's just not worth the effort of bringing cases to the ship, then carrying a can or two to the dining room.

HAL credits any outstanding balances from Soda or Beverage cards to your onboard account when checking out.Only up to the purchase price. That means with the soda card, if you drink at least 11 cans you will get nothing back. Essentially the way the card works is that you pay full price for the first 11 cans and the next 11 are free.

I really like the HAL soda card which is perfect for my family of three. And while my DW prefers Diet Pepsi, Coke Zero is an adequate substitute for her. What did surprise me, however, is that I took a six pack of Diet Caffeine Free Pepsi on in my carry-on and wasn't questioned about it. I'm sure a six pack of soda looks the same as a six pack of beer, yet my bag wasn't inspected. Can't say the same for RCI back in 2005.
