Anyone here had any of the A0xx cabins on the Statendam? I've tentatively booked A047 but on a search of this forum someone said that the cabin is right next to a lobby and noisy and another person said that the partition between that cabin and the suite next door rattles.
Any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated. I've got plenty of time to change cabins since the cruise is still a year off.....
Thanks!!

Sherita: we had cabin A046 (port side) on our last cruise, on the Ryndam and I believe the cabin arrangements are identical on the Ryndam and Statendam.
A046 opens right into the lobby area by the staircase, which also faces the doors to the aft exterior Nav Deck. We found that location to be the noisiest cabin we have had. We have also sailed in the next cabin aft, A048 and it is set back from the open space of the lobby and we thought it was a very quiet location. Thati is just our experience---perhaps other posters will share their experiences. Either way, I hope this helps you! BTW, we have booked A048 on the Statendam for a cruise next year-we like it back there! :)

We just did a mid ship Cat. B on Statendam and it was great. Quiet as no Lido Deck above you.

But what about the casino and lounges/theatre below you on Cat B? Did you hear anything? This is why I preferred to go up to the Cat A. I was worried about all the noise from the deck below the Cat B's.

Sherita: the A0xx cabins on the Statendam are aft enough not to have any real noise from the Lido above. The worst cabins, IMO, on the Navigation Deck are the ones below the Lido in the area of the midship pool. We had a Cat S there once, and early each morning the crew would be moving the chairs and tables across the metal deck above, and waking us earlier than desired. We have sailed three times in those aft Navigation Deck A0xx cabins and have never been disturbed with noise from above. Hope this helps!

Bill is right. Our noisiest cabin was the "S" under the Lido pool. Any A or b's we've had have been really quiet.
We've had cabins by the elevators before and not noticed any increase in noise. These locations can be very convenient but we choose midship elevators and there aren't any on the Statendam.

We have been in an S Suite below the Lido Deck and it was noisy at night when the feeding frenzy starts about 11 pm or so. We selected a Cat B and made sure that we were not above the casino or a lounge. It was very quiet-only sound was the occasional suite passenger above moving the chairs on the verandah above. We were in 135 as I recall.

Hi, I've never sailed HAL before (just Celebrity and NCL) and am looking to book an A or B cabin on the Statendam for Australia Dec 06.
Are there any perks that come with these cabins - do you get an bubbly when you embark / any gift plates of hors'doeuvres etc or is this considered a nice cabin with no perks?
Also, I've been given a cabin size of 292sqft including balcony - can anyone give me rough dimensions for the balconies and is there a nice private partition between balconies? (I have been on one ship years ago which was frosted glass with little privacy)
Lastly, what are your views on the Statendam? modern/old etc?
Very many thanks! Linda ( I know absolutely nothing about HAL...)

No perks for categories A or B. Only S category. Privacy partition on balcony is good. Bathroom has a jacuzzi tub. We sailed on the Statendam in 12/04 for 15 days to Hawaii. We enjoyed the ship, but we are in love with the S class of HAL's ships so we are a bit biased. Happy Sailing!

Linda-We were on Statendam earlier this month 15 days to Hawaii. Our favorite HAL ship. Food and service were outstanding. Ship goes into drydock in May in Victoria to be spiffed up and hopefully some mechanical work. We were in a B verandah-very quiet. Have been in an S also on this ship and the noise from the Lido Deck is bothersome to us. The B is a good value and the verandah is more than adequate for 2 people. The verandahs with the S suites are great for 4 or more but quite a bit more expensive.

Would you happen to have any photos of the cabin interior/verandah that you'd be happy to email me? I was all excited and wanted to go ahead and book as there's some good rates around, but then I saw one photo of a Statendam verandah cabin on another website and was put off because the room decor looked a bit drab...

I'd love an S cabin - but at TWICE the cost, I know I can spend our savings on other things!!
Thanks for all your advice! Linda
