Loud. Too loud. Far too loud. Then Screecher starts to sing along. Loud.
Who can tell what they're playing when you can't hear any music?

Good question.

We haven't gone to a sail away in years -- mainly because we can't stand the HAL Cats. Sometimes the female singer is too loud or she can't even sing so the band plays loud.

Years ago as we departed from Vancouver -- both in the terminal and on the ship they used to play "North To Alaska".

As I recall..the only music you may hear will be around the Lido pool during sail away. 4 pieces rock-pop HALcats plus vocals. Quality can vary, but usually upbeat stuff, nothing special.
Enjoy the scenery. We were lucky enough when leaving Seattle "the Mountain was out" so we saw Mt Rainer in the sunset, snow capped in the fading light.
I can still recall the vision.

If you go up one deck from the Lido, there's no music, just the blast of the ship's horn and the Seattle skyline.

Don't let the drama queens scare the daylights out of you.

The band plays some festive music to get you in vacation/cruise mode. Band plays
5 or six songs and they're done.

With some of these responses, you'd think you were being put through a waterboarding session . No worries it's nothing like this.

Enjoy your cruise.

I completely agree. That's why I head to the Crowes Nest for sail-away. Always try to avoid the Lido when Hal Cats are playing(?).

Whether we sail out of Seattle or Vancouver -- it hasn't been played on the ships we have sailed on -- in a long time.

I made sure to play it in our cabin, before we turned out the lights, our first night on board. Felt weird actually purchasing a song for my iPod, but it was well worth it, just for that moment.

I am usually on the wrap around deck whether it is the Promenade or lower promenade deck.

They played Caribbian music at sail away on our last Alaska cruise, which was on Princess. I thought it an unusual choice!

This time, I'm going to put some of the music from Antartica by Vangalis on my MP3 player to listen to. He is so taleneted, he can make music sound like a snoflake looks, or make ice sound like it looks! I enjoy some of the songs from Oceanic and 1492 Conquest of Paradise also. :p
