Laundry By The Bag is a small bag that HAL provides and you can have things cleaned and pressed for $12...as much as you can stuff in the bag you can have done. There is an Express Service (same day) as well but you pay per item and there is a 50% surcharge included with your bill. For regular laundry (next day delivery) you pay per item and there is no surcharge added.

At the beginning of a cruise there is usually a special offered. For our last cruise which was 13 days, the special was $75 for unlimited laundry. In the first day I put out enough clothes to nearly cover half the cost of the package. We always have a few days pre-cruise and therefore quite a few clothes needed laundering. We always take the package as we feel it is good value and we are after all on vacation.

I was on a 21 day cruise and went to the desk after boarding and got the unlimited laundry package for $140.00 . It was great !!! I had my traveling garments done and hung them up to wear back. I always had clean and good looking clothes to wear. I can get the package and pack lighter also... not so many things to take. It was great !!! I would get it again . When I got back home all of my clothes were clean and folded.. THAT was nice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To get the laundry package do you arrange in advance or when you board? We were in an S suite last time and LOVED the free laundry service. This time we're in an SS and want to use laundry services. What's the cost for a week?

You can purchase the unlimited laundry package from ghe front desk right after you board (or sometime that day). I don't believe it's offered for advanced purchase yet. I believe we paid $65/cabin for a 10-day cruise, but that was almost 2 years ago and prices almost certainly have gone up. I do remember seeing $45 for a 7-day, but not sure how long ago that was.

Just be sure to read the entire folder they give you when you board as it tells about the unlimited laundry package. I finally had downtime to read it a couple of days after boarding, and had already missed the deadline for signing up for the unlimited laundry package (wished I'd known there was a deadline).
Also, at least on the Maasdam, most of the self-service laundry rooms had major problems with the mechanism to accept money (old time push the quarters in), and broken machines. The frustration alone of trying to wash clothes makes me urge you to take the package or use the service of stuffing the bag to be cleaned. We finally found "working" laundry room on deck 5, but not after a lot of cursing on decks 6 and 9!

The Laundry which included Laundry and Pressing for a week on the Zuiderdam was $45 on the March 12th cruise. I was sent a Cruise Daily with drinks of the day and program which included the Laundry. I'm sailing on Zuiderdam 4/23.

Will they also wash delicates and things that must be hung to dry? I am cautious with my laundry, but it would be nice to have someone else wash and press some of my favorites. I have some very light-weight dresses made by and purchased directly from locals in other countries. They will definitely wrinkle when packed and I don't want them ruined. We have a portable iron and portable steamer, but if we can avoid taking them, it would be awesome.
Thank you!

LOL after asking Grumpy about laundry on his World Cruise and getting a 500 word reply about what hot tubs people do laundry in and bras hanging from the light stringers on the ship :D:D I was afraid to ask him what he paid for the unlimited laundry package. :p:p
