I was wondering if this wine was available on the Volendam? I've never had it, but have read rave reviews about it and would like to splurge on my upcoming Alaska cruise!

While I'm sure there's some Sauternes or Barsac on the wine list (and the best would be on the Pinnacle Grill's wine list), I don't remember any Yquem. But at $500/btl and up you won't find it on many cruise ship wine lists.

Thanks Dave,
I know it's expensive, but we wanted to splurge! Any suggestions?

Not really, because I'm not sure what's on the wine lists right now.
If some enterprising person could find us a copy of the list, though...

I've never seen it on a HAL wine list. I'd also be leery of drinking it because, despite the quality, very few bottles would move at that price and the storage conditions are less than ideal.
Really great value is a Bonny Doon. Not even in the same league, but a fine wine at a nice price.

Nope, you'll never find any Yquem on any cruise ship (except perhaps a millionaire's yacht) because it would never sell.
The biggest ticket wine on board is a Dom Perignon champagne.
If you want to enjoy a Yquem on your cruise, best that you bring it on board with you.

Is the wine list the same as the wine order form? I pulled one of these off the web site a while back to get an idea of wines and prices. No Chateau d'Yquem, no sauternes, in fact, no dessert wines, so maybe this list is just a subset of what's offered on board.
For the OP, I second the idea to bring your own bottle(or half) if you really want one. Shouldn't be too hard to transport carefully in your carryon.

The list you downloaded is nearly identical. It shows most of the less expensive and mid-range wine. However, it usually doesn't list some of the higher-end offerings (e.g. Opus, Grgich, Far Niente). And the Pinnacle has some other high ends.
My wine merchant gave me a special case for traveling with wine. It's metal on the outside and has three pockets in heavy padding. Looks like I'm toting a laptop and it's very convenient.
