I hate to open this can of worms but, if there is no formal evening and all evenings are elegant casual. Do men wear jackets in the evening? It says they are not required but what is the norm?

It's entirely up to you whether or not to wear a jacket in the evenings, as they are not required (nor is a tie), but collared shirts are. My husband packed a tie and sports jacket, and he did wear them a few times. We were fortunate enough to be asked to dine with the captain one evening, so he was happy he had packed a jacket and tie. I would say on most evenings, the jacket appeared 50/50 for most men. Few ties were evident.
No one will look askance at you if you don't wear a jacket. As an aside, we did, however, see a man wearing jeans, and he was asked to change his attire before he was allowed into the dining room, so the dress code is enforced (or at least it was on our cruise.)
Enjoy!:)

Jackets for men are definitely not required and we have friends that do not pack them. My DH does like wearing a sports jacket when dining in Signatures and Prime 7 and on the nights of the Captain's Reception and Farewell. It is really personal preference. No one will give you odd looks unless you are wearing shorts and expecting to get into the dining room:p

My husband packs one because he is often cool in the restaurants. He finds jackets more comfortable than sweaters (easier to take off, e.g.) I agree with the poster who said about 50/50 and few ties.

My husband never packs a jacket now that they've changed the dress code.

My husband has not taken a jacket since the change in dress code. Often, I am wearing a sparkly cocktail dress, and he is in his button-down shirt and kackis. But it doesn't bother him or me, esp since that is often how we go out to dinner at home too.

We were just on the Navigator Amazon cruise. Many men wore jackets and a few ties every night. This was my first cruise that I didn't bring a jacket and wished I had.

Passengers who are not from the U.S. or Canada tend to dress up more than we do (sort of like the east coast of the United States being more dressy than the west coast). Don't let it bother you. They are comfortable with jackets and ties while others are not.:)

Guess I fall into the "east coast" group that TravelCat mentions. What's accepted in one region differs from what's accepted in another region. I happen to be one of those who doesn't mind dressing up. On our last cruise (Carnival -- I know, several steps down from Regent, but what can I say -- it was a total "freebie") I wore a jacket and tie every night except first and last, and wore my dinner jacket on one formal night and tux on the other. In much, but certainly not all of North Carolina, "casual elegant" means coat and tie for men...not suit and tie...but coat and tie. Most country clubs require a coat and tie for the main dining room...if you want to be more "casual" than that, you're seated in the bar or the pro shop grill. But whatever makes you feel the most comfortable

We're on the Lima to Buenos Aires segment of SOuth AMerica and my husband did bring his weddings/funerals blue suit to wear for the Formal Optional nights, but we ended up having dinner in our room while watching the Giants game, so we didn't dress at all. During dinner time there are a few men wearing jackets and last night it was quite cold in Constellation Lounge so my husband wore a jacket. It's all quite optional except that more dress for Prime 7 and Signatures and for private cocktail parties. But it's so much more casual than when we were on 3 years ago.
Bring whatever you'd like and you'll fit right in. As someone said she was dressed more formally and her husband was casual, as most men seem to be. Just enjoy the cruise!!

I never "pack" a jacket, but I wear my standard blue blazer when traveling to join the cruise. It's useful to have the pocket space and I don't have to cram it in a suitcase with the other densely-packed stuff. I wear it most nights at dinner time, usually with khakis and a button-down shirt, no tie. To dress up, I might switch to charcoal grey trousers and black loafers instead of khakis and boat shoes. I usually pack a tie but often go the entire cruise without wearing it.
