Hi , Just looking for someone who has done the Ryndam in the last few weeks. We are sailing April 5, 2005 and doing the Sea of Cortez. Also curious if they continue to solve there sewer gas problem of the past. :)

Great photo! Thanks for posting. It is always exciting to see the comparison of "old and new" even though my heart still lies with the classic Ryndam . . .

San Diego is starting to look like St. Thomas only HAL style much better.

Meg, Cerinda and I just disembarked the Ryndam yesterday. It was a wonderful cruise, but yes, I'm afraid to say that at times it was a bit smelly. The Captain commented on it on Friday and said steps were being taken to eliminate the problems. It certainly didn't ruin our cruise though, so go and have a great time.

Hi!

Hi Sage! Yes, we just got off the Ryndam yesterday and at times there was a bit of a sewer gas smell in certain areas of the ship. Some places were affected more than others. We felt pretty lucky - our cabin was just slightly between mid ship and the back and we didn't have any plumbing or smelly problems there. Enjoy! It's a fabulous cruise with a wonderful itinerary. Hi Nail Bender,

I just booked on the 4/5 Ryndam as well. Let me know if you're up for ping pong, tennis, or maybe taking a zipline excursion in Cabo.

...we aren't cruising until July/August, but we will have a "D" stateroom, "just slightly between mid ship and the back". Is that similar to what you had, or were you on another deck? Just wondering...

Hi Landlubber54,

It's exactly where we were located on the ship except we were on Deck 10, Navigation Deck in a suite. The odors that were located primarily in the forward area of the ship permeated all decks - from deck 10 all the way down to Deck 5. We were fine and only had a slight odor in the cabin one evening for about an hour. We called the front desk before dinner and when we came back to the cabin later that evening, everything was fine. We were also fortunate that we didn't have any of the plumbing problems that have been posted. Any other questions????? I'm happy to answer! Meg

Since our cruise is to Alaska, and since a lot of our time will be spent on land (including a week before we board) most of my time has been spent at the Alaska forum.

Any general comments about the condition of the ship and the level of service are appreciated. While I have been monitoring comments about the Ryndam, I will probably have more questions after the repositioning cruise in May, once the Alaska itinerary is up and running.

Thanks for your input!:)
