Looking to do a 1 week cruise this summer from NYC area to Bermuda. Comparing HAL and X for 2 adults and 2 pre teens in 1 cabin. On X the 3/4 passengers are paying 1/3 of the price then the adults but on HAL the 3&4th passenger will have to pay 100.00 more per passenger over the cost of the 2 adults. I guess HAL doesn't want our business.

Hmm....we've done HAL twice...with our kids being the 3rd and 4th and have gotten great deals on both. Once I think they were free...and this next one they are at a severely discounted rate. Maybe call them or a TA and talk through it?

That doesn't sound rght that the 3rd and 4th passengers are paying more.
You need to talk to a good TA or call HAL.

There is no size single cabin at sea to make two preteen girls happy. Realistically, the cruise is very exciting all on its own... but tiny space with Mom & Dad... that one is harder.
HAL tends to be inclusive on more things than many other lines... and certainly less of a party scene.
But I think it all really comes down to destination & teen program.
Ship size... season... school in or out will all effect.
Go to boards and check on teen programs if that is important... if not...
go with your gut. My kids loved Hal in that age group... kids club smaller- easier to make friends. Aged out of teen loft... they have enjoyed much less.
Good Luck and happy cruising

I did a quick check -- and found that on an April cruise the first and second passengers paid the regular price. The third and fourth passengers would only pay about $125 each. Perhaps you misunderstood what you were told. Not $100 more than the first two, but should have been told only $100 each.

It must be the dates you are looking at. I just priced Jun 17 & 24th, and with an inside there was up to $400 difference with 3/4 passenger. The further you get into summer, the poorer the deals. EM

We cruise with DD and she is always less then we are. Something is not right in what you are doing.

It's not $100 pp above the normal fare for the 3&4, it's $100 period. Unless you are paying less than $300 pp for the first two on X, HAL is cheaper for the 3&4.

Since the OP did not mention which sailing was involved, it is possible that the cruise is nearing maximum capacity and the 3&4 passengers ARE priced that way to prevent anyone from booking them.

Whenever I've researched the different cruiselines for 3rd/4th passengers (done a lot lately), HAL has always had the best deal for a quad.

One of the many reasons we sail HAL is the 3/4 guest pricing. We've done 11 cruises now with HAL with our daughters. Most have been at $99, and some a little more, but always way, way below 1/2 passengers. For Bermuda, for some reason, HAL is not giving the typical discount pricing on 3/4 guests. I also priced a Bermuda cruise for early summer and was greatly surprised to see the higher prices for 3/4 passengers. So, in general, HAL is a great deal for 3/4, but apparently not for Bermuda.

Well it must be the week we are sailing that the 3/4 rate is higher. When I checked today HAL has now a lower 3/4 rate by 50%.
Even with the lower rate my X cabin is 300.00 lower. Maybe next time, I do like a bargain.
