Need Help Real Quick!

We are booked on an Alaskan cruise/tour for the end of June. We booked the cruise line air but are having second thoughts now. Our final payment is due to our travel agent by April 6th. We have decided that instead we would like to use some frequent flier miles that we have been holding onto. Will there be a problem with removing the air portion from the booking at this late date? We are flying into Anchorage, but flying home from Vancouver. Don't know if the 2 one-ways makes a difference. Thanks for your help!:)

You shouldn't have any problem eliminating the air portion of your booking. Have your TA get a written (faxed /e-mail) confirmation from HAL that you will not be using their air.

Of course, I am sure you know to be certain you will be able to get your own air arrangements before you get rid of theirs.

You might have a real problem using FF miles at this late date. Most airlines have a very small allotment of free seats, and on some routes none.

Major airlines usually book about 330 days in advance or so, and savvy travelers book their free flights then.

But give it a try, you could get lucky. You should be able to cancel the cruise line air, but your TA can give more speciifc advice.

I too HIGHLY doubt you will have any option for using FF miles at this EXTREMELY late date. End of June is prime time. But look for several dates before and after - their may be something? But also look at booking your flight yourself, unless you have opted for the deviation, you could end up with poor conection flights and most always more costly. Simple to check out using multicity options on air web sites. Add in transfers, but the best option for this is the ability to pick out your own flights.

We were able to drop the air from our Alaska cruise/tour reservation without any kind of penalty. We had a lot of FF miles on an airline that we don't fly much anymore. We had to use double the miles, but were able to get the free air tix. This saved us over $1600. Now we are going in a day prior to the tour portion and leaving the day after the cruise.

Good deal! Considering what prices are like in Alaska, you might be able to buy a decent lunch one day with your savings! :rolleyes:
