El Cid Resort - Mazatlan

After touring Mazatlan, we would like to spend a few hours at the beach. Is it still possible to use the beach and pool facilities at the El Cid Resort? Is it within walking distance of the ship, or must you take a cab? Also, I don't know if it is in the Golden Zone so we could also do a little shopping. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who might have information. Thanks.
