We will be embarking on a 12-night cruise about the Carnival Breeze in Barcelona this summer and I have a coule of questions. We will be flying in from London that morning and taking the Carnival airport transfer to the port. So, here are the questions:
1.) Will there be a shop at the cruise port itself to purchase our two bottles of wine (there are two of us) and some bottled water for our cruise?
2.) Will we be able to check-in early (to get rid of our luggage) and then be able to leave the ship to explore Barcelona?
Thanks!

Just a suggestion..use a taxi from airport to port and cancel your transfers..It should be about 30 Euros for two of you and luggage..and you won't have to wait around for the shuttle transfer to fill up as you will be wasting time !! After you claim your luggage taxi's are lined up outside..quick and easy !!..There is a small shop in the terminal...How early you can check-in will vary but more than likely 9:30-10:00am....Yes you can then go where you like.

Derf,
There is a wine shop and a liquor shop AFTER the security check. Prices are similar if not cheaper than on the ship. If you have a carry-on, you can put your purchase in it and walk on the ship without being x-rayed or searched. In October, we purchase four bottles of really good Spanish wine, a bottle of rum and a bottle of scotch; made for a heavy carry-on!. Walked on with no problem. We also had a bag with two bottles of Spanish wine we had already purchased in Barcelona.
Boy Voyage!

Thanks Ashland. Great advice. Maybe a stupid follow-up question, but I assume most taxi drivers at the airport would understand at least a little English or "Carnival Breeze" at a minimum???

A little yes..but when you get in the taxi line there is a person when you get to the front of the line that asks you where you are going and waves the taxi up and tells them....You will find this very easy to manage...Enjoy your cruise !!

Derf,
I honestly can't remember is they have bottled water in the stores at the port. Just guessing that they probably don't have it in bulk; only in single sport type bottles if at all.
Hopefully, some of the other cruisers who have gone through the port stores can give you a more difinitive answer.

Ron452 please clarify 'prices similar or less than on ship' I would think the reason to buy before boarding would be to save money. Otherwise why not buy on board. I was thinking of local wine stores rather than ship or cruise terminal, however it would be easier to wait until at the terminal.
