We are new to cruising...we have a VF guanranteed booked on the Eurodam -sailing Mar. 3. I am confused about the cabin categories. What is the difference between a VH and VF? I've read here that some people with VH's, more or less expect/hope for an upgrade. Does a VF ever get upgraded? If so, what can it be upgraded to.
TIA

We are sailing on Eurodam the week prior to your sailing. We booked a VF guarantee and ended up with a VB. It is all about location, location, location. The higher up on the V-scale (closer to A) the better (supposedly). We just got our assignment yesterday, so since you are sailing the next week I would think you should be hearing soon.
We're very happy with what we got...and I hope you will be too!!

The main differences between Vx cabins are the size of the balcony and the location.
You could be upgraded to VT, VE, VD, ... up to VQ, or even SZ up through the Penthouse! If you get an upgrade it will most likely be a higher Vx. Note that HAL considers VT an upgrade from VF even though the VT have standing-only balconies.

jt is a V considered less than a VF? I thought V was highest in the category for some reason.

Personally I prefer the V (plain) over the VQ because the V have a 7 ft deep balcony and the VQ have just a 4 ft one. Also I like the more central location of the plain V.

Hard to understand how the VQ would be considered the best with those measurements.:confused::confused:

Hard to understand how the VQ would be considered the best with those measurements.:confused::confused:It's because they're "spa" cabins. This picture is the VQ on the Nieuw A, so the balconies on deck 11 are also VQ, but they are squared off instead of rounded like the Eurodam VT. The deck 11 ones still have no ceiling, but at least they're big enough for a couple of chairs ... barely.
