For all of you seasoned travelers - What is the best way to get to the station from the pier with our luggage?

If you are taking a train from Venice you might find it easier to get a cab from the Cruise terminal to Venice Mestre Station.

We are trying to figure out what to do with our luggage. We are not taking the train until early evening. We can leave it at a hotel near San Marco where friends are staying but I am trying to simplify things. I guess I should have explained that in my initial post. I know that there is a luggage check at St. Lucia and we were hoping to dump our bags there for the day. If there is a luggage check at Mestre we can look into that. We are taking either the Eurostar or a CIS train and I cannot find information about these trains stopping at Mestre station. I have check Trentalia.
