After researching I found that I fell for the time-share company that buys blocks of rooms and makes us sit through some presentation. Does anyone know how long the presentation is and where it is located? Is there anyway of getting out of it?

I haven't done it myself, but several people have reported that if you're firm, you won't have to do the presentation, and you can be in and out of their "Welcome Center" in 15-20 minutes.

Welcome Center is in Ft. Lauderdale, about 1 hour south of Palm Beach, where the ship sails from...

we're sailing away....

You have to sit for 90 mins BUT as soon as you say your broke it might speed it up ..

I've received these offers saying I've won a 7 day cruise out of the port of my choice and it also includes air fare. But does not include tax and port charges. It does say in tiny, tiny print that I would have to attend a 90 minute presentation. I assumed it would be done on the ship since you are given the port of your choice?? or maybe they use a conference room at the airport. The same tiny print says I have to be part of couple, either married or engaged..I could handle sitting and listening for 90 minutes but I can't create an imaginary friend. (Is that discrimination??) I would be interested to know if anyone has done one of these "free" cruises??

You will most likely be given the cheapest accomodations that exist and you might be able to "upgrade" at a cost.

Just remember, there ain't nuthin' fer free.

I'm taking the cruise as transportation to and from Freeport/Lucaya. I lived there for awhile when I was about 17 and haven't been back since 03. I want to see the old place and see if my old "haunts" are still there and what condition they are in.

When I lived there the Bahamas were still under English "rule" and it was immaculate. I've been back a few times since they were on their own and the island kinda went downhill when they took it over themselves.

I think Freeport/Lucaya is much nicer and prettier than Nassau and the folks are nicer as well.

Most cruise lines have been steering away from Nassau for awhile now because it's gotten pretty rough and the "natives" aren't all that friendly to Americans now. I think the economy has a lot to do with it.

The beaches are beautiful and the water is so clear you can see the bottom at 20+ feet.

The prices are pretty high if you're staying there and don't be surprised if a quart of orange juice costs over $10.

Snorkeling is great and so is the fishing.

If you're going just because it's a "cheapy" because of the timeshare stuff, you might not be very happy.

If you're going because you want to spend some time on the beach, you'll love the beaches.

Here is a link to the history of the ship.

Just to be sure everyone understands, Bahamas Celebration sails from Palm Beach to Freeport, and also offers resort stays there. The Fort Lauderdale / Nassau route is history.
