Don't know why I never find "help" all that helpful. Especially giving directions to other pages, without allowing us the means to communicate first.

May I suggest that the moderators give a 1-3 day warning before closing any thread? The last 2 times, at least a new thread was created.... not this time. I wonder what the forum is for if you are discouraging active discussions.

I created this page to make sure our group stay in touch... and if we have to move to somewhere else, at least let us have the opportunity to discuss where.

What perfect timing to feel better! LOL Are you sure she wasn't just having cruise ship withdrawls?

I wonder if I can get harry to believe that all my illnesses and aches are from the need to be on another cruise ship? ;)

I worked on getting my business started and am taking a break before going back to it again!

Oh and I bought a music cd when in Sicily and I have listened to it for two days...all instrumental. I belive I am ADD and music helps me focus better. Yesterday, I listened to it for the whole day and by the end of the day, Harry told me he couldnt take it anymore, please turn it off, so I did. I also stopped working though! LOL I just turned it back on! Its my sign to go back to work!

Hi Cheri,

Glad you are feeling better. Missed you on the last night of drinks... did not get a chance to say good bye.

You are great gal with a great spirit. Thanks for the arm bands and all the arrangements onboard.

For everyone.... if you have a smartphone, try to download an app called Viper. It serves more or less the same function as Skype which means you can call or text anyone in the world for free as long as you have internet access and the other person also has Viper. The main advantage is that Viper is connected to your contact list on your phone, and is able to tell you if your contacts are on Viper as well. You don't have to log in like on Skype.

My number 065-97565303. :)

Is whatsapp for iphones? I don't have that. Oh well.

I can't think of another vacation, especially when I just got back... I will have to work hard first. Vacation for me, given my flexible timing, can be planning in a short time, or no planning at all. We'll see. :)

June 23rd, 2012, 04:20 AM
Joe yes it is available for iPhones but also for android and other smartphone systems.

We don't need to plan for a year but I like the thought of knowing there is a vacation in my future :)
But I don't think we will book anytime soon, maybe in fall. I really wish I would live near to a carnival cruise port!

Good morning friends!

Thanks Joe, for setting up this thread.

Cheri, glad you and Michael are on the mend. Sorry I missed your call~~left my cell phone at home yesterday. Are you off today?

Sure hope all the sickies are getting better. I still have this miserable cold, it's better, but not gone yet.

So, where are we going next? I would love to do the Baltics, but if I do, it'll only be me~~can't afford to take the whole family. Anyone thinking of anything closer to home?

Morning Nance.

You saw the picture I posted on you and Cheri on facebook? Can you post for a picture or what?! ;)

Not sure about the Baltics for me. July is typically a bad time for me since there will be events for me to handle.

I have been looking at those transatlantic cruises... very tempting with lots of sea days (to do some R&R) and exotic ports. Flights are a challenge though. More or less I have to fly to or from Miami. LONG Flight. If I do so, would definitely want to drop by NY on the way. :)

Good morning Nancy - we will probably do Alaska next year but not sure when. I did tell Harry the different ships that sail there and he wants to stick with Carnival since we are already platinuim.

For anyone who has already done the Alaskan cruise, when it says, "cruising glacier bay" etc, that just means that you can watch from your balcony or elsewhere on the ship - correct? We would not be getting off the ship to cruise the bay, correct? And how long does that take? I dont like to assume, and trust you guys to answer me without thinking it is too much of dumb questions!

Yep, just saw it and tagged it, of course I tagged it wrong and don't know how to fix it. Oh well.
Not sure where I'll go next. Kate, Christen and I are going on a 4 day on the Destiny in January. Need to get in 2 cruises in the next year to get to Platinum.

That should be easy if you are doing short cruises. Where are you flying to in order to get on the destiny? Would there be another short cruise you would like from that same port?

You are correct. You watch the glaciers from the ship and you will get off at coastal cities for excursions (Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway). Most cruises are 7-days through there. We had a balcony the last time and it was a waste because it was shaded which made it way too cold, and limited on view. We actually spent more time on Lido outside listening to the glaciers calve (at Marjorie Glacier) or inside where there were panoramic windows. This time we are taking an inside cabin and spending more time in the public areas.

Oh, Absolutely! I am once again expecting to look like a bag lady. I am from Arizona so of course I wore socks, thermal underwear, jeans and flannel shirt, big warm park like coat, wool lined gloves, and a 100% wool hat that came down over my ears. I STILL wrapped a deck blanket around me. It was REALLY cold, but I couldn't resist. When the ship gets close to the glacier the calving sounds like explosions and it's worth it all.

It is when u schedule two cruises in a row. Like had we stayed on the breeze one more trip, we would have done a b2b. One day I may do that!

Tricee, last night before going to bed, I looked at over 1300 pictures we took from the Livorno port day. I guess that is why, but I dreamed that you and Mikey and Harry and I were walking around the town again - wouldn't that be nice!!!! :)

Was that town Greve? I think Greve was the next town. Do you remember the name of the town we walked through taking pictures? Did it begin with an F?

Greve was the bigger town with the square that had all the shops....the meat market, fruit market, wood shop, flower shop, the art store, the cafe with gelato, the bakery, etc.

The name of the little town we walked around in taking pictures was Montefioralle. http://www.montefioralle.info/

anyway, I went to the new roll call they set up with unlimited amount of posts and it does not allow us to post, so I sent a message to the modirators. Hopefully they will get it and repair the condition.

Joe, if you look at my pictures on FB under the tuscany, (Greve part), you will find the picture there that Tom wanted. You may be able to guess by looking at the picture why I assumed you may NOT want to add it up here! lol But it was kind of you to offer!

And then two friends turned me onto their personalities and size and when I wanted a new dog, it was a pug I wanted. I sent it before she paid me, and she has dodged me ever since. Actually, how do you define "avoided me"? Not sure if I met Stefanee. Was she even there at the cocktail party? If she was, why can't you just look for her and remind her?

I try not to call people names like "deadbeat". As you said, $10 is not a big deal so for people to go to this extent to avoid paying? Not that there isn't such people around but to give the benefit of doubt, perhaps she cancelled her cruise and more likely, simply forgot about it?

I know you are just venting. But it could well be just a misunderstanding.

She was there. I met the son wearing the tshirt and her mother. I was told by the grandmother stefanee would come over to the section we were sitting. She did not. She did have my cabin number and I also emailed her when we returned. The email went through the site Tricee created. She has since deactivated her email there. Please tell me what do you call that?

Forgetful perhaps? Yes.. she owes you money so she should have contacted you. But to avoid all doubt, reaching out to her or leaving a message at her cabin might have been a good idea. Otherwise, just based on deactivation from Tricee's website is not full proof...well... at least not to me. Seems like a lot to trouble just to avoid paying $10. At this stage, I still think there is more than one possible explanation. Either way, perhaps Tricee will have her contact details and can help hook you up.

Oh my.. this is a but embarrassing. I lied to a few people on the cruise about how fast I dove a car! I totally messed with the conversion km/h to mph, I told I drove 200mph and even though some asked if this is real I said yes but only because I really thought that it was true! But no, I only drove around 155 mph ( i don't think i could stand more)and I'm very sorry and I want to apologize.

Good heavens Marjam~~I don't see much difference once you're going that fast!!! No way would I have the nerve to drive that fast. I think the fastest I've ever driven is 90mph.

Good morning Gwyn....I was really only up for 30 minutes and then went back to bed. Slacking I know but my bosses are now in Italy and we had a conference call. Now I can slack off for the next 10 days. YEAH!!

You go girl!! Relax for the next 10 days:D

Hi guys, Glad to hear you enjoyed the Breeze as we will be on her August 14th.
Can the chefs table be booked prior to embarkation?
For those that did this do you feel it was a great experience and worth the money.
I appreciate your comments hope you are all feeling better now and be safe.
Cheers, Anne

Anne, I did not eat at the Chef's table, but I believe you can make the reservations prior to embarkation. Hopefully someone else can answer that question.

We asked our son, Myles, if he wanted to go to Alaska next summer if we go. His response - "I dont know. It depends on what I have going at the time. Would I be able to gamble or would the ship stay too close to shore so that I wouldnt be old enough to be in the casino?"

Our answer - "if you are only going to gamble, we can take a short cruise out of new orleans or galveston so you can gamble."

Thats what he wants to do! He is not like his momma who is always ready for a trip, if the check book allows!:D

Wow Gwyn, I'm like you~~always ready to travel somewhere:D

The storm we had Friday did so much damage. 80 mph winds. Trees down everywhere. Many streets still closed. I was lucky my power was out for only 24 hours. My home phone still is not working. Cell phones only work sometimes. So people won't have power til this week! Glad I got mine back so quick. It's too darn hot to not have a/c~~high 90's to low 100's. Hope Tom and Karen are okay.

That is hurricane strength winds / damage! Glad to hear your power is no longer out.

I have never lost power for a long time in the winter, but I can surely say that losing it for summer for days is hard. For one hurricane (myles about 6) we lost power for 5 days! That was hard and talk about being freaky without street lights at night and one or two little lanterns inside for that many days! No fun there! Oh course, Harry was at work!

Then when I was pregnant for Myles, we lost power for several days due to another hurricane. I would take a chair and so sit outside under a tree and feel like a beached whale!:o Again, Harry at work! His job requires him to be at work for a hurricane so I have learned if the storm is coming here, I just leave because I dont want to be without power without Harry being home!

I have to say one good thing comes out of no power in the summer - our neighborhood visits each other LOTS more!!!;)

Hi Anne. Gail and I did the Chefs table. It was an amazing experience. Just go into it with an open mind and try everything presented. Even though you may not care for tomatoes, try them you will be surprised. As far as the cost, just remember you are paying for an experience not a dinner. Yes I think it was worth it. Yes you can book prior to embarkation. Just fill out the form on John Healds blog. Here is a link. Have a great time and be safe.

Glad to hear that Harry is well enough to return to work. I hope he is 100% back to normal.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your pictures of the wall. That really stinks. Sure, we could meet in Dubrovnik and do it again. In the meantime, I have some that I can share with you if you like. They won't be as good as Harry's, but at least you'll have some pictures of the wall. The good news is that you still have all of the other pictures. I was able to scale back to about 210 pictures that I actually printed out, but it took me awhile to wittle it down.

I started my new chemo as soon as we came home. This one looks just like cherry kool-aid. Isn't that weird? I have been able to keep working full-time so that's good. Time to save for the next cruise, right? I would love to do the Panama Canal cruise, but Jeff is being a meanie and saying we have to wait because he can't get that much time off again from work for a couple of years :(. I have to figure out how to get that money tree in the back yard to start blooming again. :)

You have to understand...Australia has the opposite timing for seasons. Dec is actually their summer time... so I gather it will be the best time to travel. So be it Dec 2013 or Dec 2014.... it will not be during mid year, because that is their winter.

Anyways... Happy Holidays Everyone!! :)

Joe, I am using these figures... they have over 400 days left and are already at 3933 post. I hope they dont beat us, but they could!

Harry left yesterday for the first day of work since his heart attack. I may go with a friend to a swimming pool where they have a July 4th party, but I am not sure yet!

I hope your day is great:D...and I hope you make lots of money also!:D:D

Happy 4th of July:D

Gwyn, let me know if you the NO cruise. Jan 5th is my birthday, so maybe I can make that work!

Still considering the Baltics, but I love the Australia idea. So are we talking 2014 for Australia???

Lesa, so glad to hear you are doing well with the new chemo treatment. Praying for a full recovery for you:)

I miss you all!

Nancy, I thought I remembered you saying that January 5th was your birthday. I will definately keep you posted! Do you have any plans today? ABout Australia, I think we just assumed a mid-year cruise in 2014. But as Ruth said, our summer is there winter, so the cruise MAY be December of 2014.

Doesn't our Breeze cruise feel like it was a along time ago?

Lesa, glad to hear you are feeling well enough to continue working. You keep taking that cherry koolaid and it will stomp those nasty cancer cells into the ground.

Tell Jeff that he can always take some unpaid time off if he needs to. I have to do that sometimes when our trip schedule gets ahead of my time off at work.

We are planning a land vacation next summer to England, Scotland and Paris, so I am having fun planning that. Len might get to golf the Old Course at St. Andrews again, so he is happy.

Myles used to be so fascinated with tigers! When he was about 4 or 5, we went to a fair that had a baby tiger that if you paid (enough) money, you could feed it a bottle. Myles and I feed the baby tiger a bottle! Pretty awesome, but I would love to just see a baby tiger and be able to play with it, of course, when its momma is no where around! lol :D

Like the show Harry and I watched in our cabin on the cruise!

I don't know why you keep associating Singapore with weird food. We are a major city... yes, our food has A LOT more variety but they are mostly conventional and most Americans can take it.

The weird foods like insects and stuff I tried those in China, Thailand...etc. Not in Singapore, which is rarely available.

Our food expedition can include all sorts of chicken!!

Number 6 is actually a very traditional dessert from this part of the world. The skin is made from gluten/flour mixture and is usually filled with sweet bean paste or grounded peanuts & sugar. I prefer the peanuts & sugar. :)

I have been mad busy in work as I had to keep the local transport system working while a 75,000 per night concert was taking place in a local park. The Stone Rose were the headline act, a big deal over in England but my friends in the US will have to use Mr Google.
Also had our son over from China for 10 days, even that kept us busy, especially Liz having the washing machine on full blast while he was home. Now he's gone back , she is missing her baby...he's 6' 2" and 180 pounds, some baby. At least my razor and after shave are safe for now!

I can't think of another vacation, especially when I just got back... I will have to work hard first. Vacation for me, given my flexible timing, can be planning in a short time, or no planning at all. We'll see. :)

Joe yes it is available for iPhones but also for android and other smartphone systems.

We don't need to plan for a year but I like the thought of knowing there is a vacation in my future :)
But I don't think we will book anytime soon, maybe in fall. I really wish I would live near to a carnival cruise port!

Oh my.. this is a but embarrassing.

Uh i am still impressed with the 155!!

Lesa our speedy recovery prayers are with you!! As for Panama Canal , it is a great cruise and very relaxing as normally you have a few sea days!!

Harry said he always wanted 2 girls.... i think we should keep him around :)

no the cruise does not go to normandy or paris. I plan to do Paris pre-cruise. it is just accross the chunell from London. so you can fly to london and take the chunnell for the day
or you can fly to Paris and chunnell to London... I havent really worked that part out yet. but I am rather excited. Jarry and Jacquilne shared their Paris/London tour guide. Nore sure the distance to Normandy. i will do some research and let you know

I think a few people are doing Paris first and then chunell or ferry to England!!

I know I will go visit my sister for a few days and then have promised Michelle and Melissa the Jack the Ripper tour the night before!!

Hi Lesa, I hope all goes well with your cherry kool-aid chemo. Remarkable that you are able to work full time. Yes, save for the next cruise, look forward to the next great adventure and most of all, take the very best care of yourself

Hi Ingrid: Hope all is well with you. I'm doing great. I just do what the doctor tells me. I'm already saving for our next cruise. I'd be happy to go just about anywhere. It looks like a lot of you are looking at Australia. I've never been there. So many places to go and so little vacation time and money...hmmm. Being independently wealthy would help but I don't think that applies to any of us.:)

Happy to hear that you started your treatments and you are still working full time! That is a good sign. My email address is gwyncr@cox.net and if you could email a couple of the wall pictures, I would appreciate it! Good luck with the upcoming treatments - let us know how they are going!!!

I am thinking of a couple of cruises right now and may book one by the 5th (thursday)because the deposit if booked by then is only 25 dollars, so I can afford that so soon after this cruise!:D

If you ever get that tree to grow, I want a clipping so I ca also grow one!!!

I just sent you some pictures of the wall. Glad to hear you are getting ready to book your next cruise. I'll give you a whole branch if that tree starts blooming:D
