We would love for you to come join us. We were on a cruise with Mary Ann last month, and she was such fun and a delightful person. This cruise promises to be even better, if that is possible. Yes, we have a suite, 7021. We hope you can join us.

Yesterday, we booked Volendam's 10 day Seafarer for January, 2006. We've done that itinerary so many times before but don't care. It'll be 2 weeks of sun and fun. Two days pre-cruise and two days post at Pier 66 and stops in Curacao and Aruba.......
It took us a while to make up our minds to make another booking so I am happy we went ahead and booked this.

Haven't book anything yet - and this isn't like us - usually we have several cruises booked at a time. But we can't find any back-to-back cruises doing different ports for 20 days. And none of HAL's other Caribbean schedules do any different ports than what we have been doing this year.

:) You cruised so much this past year (Lucky you :)) , I think you're going to have trouble finding new Caribbean ports. Have you considered a South American cruise? It isn't something we want to do but seeing as you can be away longer than we are able, maybe it might be worth looking into?

We have not officially booked but getting close to it. One is November 16th 2006 on the Zaandam for a 10 day Meixcan Riviera that goes to Acapulco. It will probably have a few more families since it is over Thanksgiving. This will actually cruise over my birthday. Then the other cruise we are considerding is the Volendam out of Tampa in March. I am sure the Zaandam is a definitely but we would not mind doing an Alaskan cruise either but just not sure what will be available.

So far this is the only 2006 cruise we are booked on, but DH would like to go back to the Med. again. Depends on health issues, etc. but certainly hope it will be Europe. I would enjoy doing the Greek Isles once again. Time will tell as we first have to get thru the 35-day Transatlantic on the Maasdam this July.

We did a South American cruise a few years ago on the old Nieuw Amsterdam from Rio to Ft Lauderdale. I still haven't gotten the nerve to go around the horn.
Hal has stopped going to ports like St Lucia which we enjoyed. HAL's is selecting ports that all the mega ships go to - getting crowded in the Caribbean.

I was surpised to see that you had booked 10 days on the Volendam. On another thread you mentioned that you couldn't do the Halloween cruise on the Westerdam as your DH and you were thinking about either Europe or South America and those being longer cruises your DH would have to more time off at one time to do one of those longer cruises. What happened to those plans?

They're still in the 'talking stage'. We have not cruised nor been to Europe in several years and he is missing it alot. We loved the Greek Isles cruises and European Capitals particularly. Another we really enjoyed embarked in Piraeus and disembarked in Rotterdam. That was a GREAT cruise. We've spent a great deal of time in Europe and I'm not as enthusiastic as he is right now to book that.
We are still very much considering the group cruise as well. Seeing as we always travel far more than once a year, they are all still options.
It was soooo unlike us to have had only one upcoming cruise booked that I'm happy we at least made this booking.
I agree about St. Lucia. I like it there and now that you mention it, we have not been to that port in a while. Doesn't seem to be part of many itineraries.....I wonder why?

Booked on this cruise with two other couples from Boston, interesting itinerary on the Statendam. One couple I got to know from this board while researching South America and we have kept in touch. Also booked on Princess November 29/06 Rome/Rio. Also, Oceania Nautica Sep 2006 Athens/Istanbul wonderful itinerary for the Black Sea. Was a toss up between Prinsendam and Nautica, but the last one seems slightly more interesting.
Serendipity: Great cruise for your anniversary, wish we could join, but will not take the required innoculations for that area.
KK: We are on the Veendam Nov 26/05 and the itinerary includes St. Lucia, a big cc group is signed up for this one, few cabins open.

Hmmm.....I missed that thread. I certainly would have commented as we enjoy a port day at St. Lucia.
I wonder why they hardly stop there now.
Seems there are far more calls at Tortola these days.

We were booked on the Veendam for the Nov 26th cruise but in January we cancelled it. All of our cruises this year were the Caribbean and practically the same ports.

Well, we are booked on the 12/17/05 Ryndam, but looks like will be changing as DH is not going to be able to take time off after September of this year, at least until next January. Being that this cruise is over Christmas, there is no way I'd cruise with the kids and leave him at home - so we are looking for something in January and will probably be cancelling the Noordam 2/22/06.
We are taking the kids to Europe in the summer 2006, but I am going to wait to book - I saw some of the deals for Europe 2005 and hope they are repeated for 2006.
Then we have the HAL-O-Ween group cruise for DH & I - so that will be more than enough for 2006.

We were just in Tortola on Veendam. Once a year in Tortola is more than enough for us! We never get tired of St. Thomas. We know so many people there; have so much fun; enjoy fabulous lunches with friends. Even though we don't buy much anymore, we still enjoy going in and out of the stores or going to the beach or whatever we choose to do on St. Thomas day.

Can anybody tell me where the internet cafe is located on the Rotteram? I couldn't find it on any of the deck maps in the catalogue.
Unless it was totally moved after the SOE, it's on Upper Promenade, port side, between the mid-ship and aft elevator banks.
It was tucked between the library and card rooms; you had to go through one to access it. Post-SOE it should be part of Explorations Cafe.

I know I'm not supposed to post here because we're only going on the HAL-O-Weendam Cruise, but I just wanted to say how much we love St. Lucia!!! I wonder why they're not stopping there anymore. Such a magnificent island from the sea! We're thinking of doing a land-based vacation there one of these days.
But I have to say I absolutely love Tortola, too! I think it gets a bad rap from a lot of people. It's a wonderful island.

Jasl...Nice to hear from you..Your cruises sound wonderful..We tried to book the Prinsendam this coming November for Marilyn's & Al's 50th Anniv. but it was full..Instead booked the NCL "Crown" to Santiago via the Canal in November..Enjoyed Santiago & excited to be going back..Hope you had a good time on your South American trip again this year? Would love to do that one again!
Will probably have to take Malaria Meds, which I've done before for the Amazon trip..Yes you're right about the suggested Yellow Fever Shots & will probably get them, but hope it won't be a problem for us..Al wanted all of us to take the Aukland trip from the West Coast, but John wasn't happy with a 12 hour flight back..We might be able to convince him to do it in 2007..Are you flying to Osaka?..That's a long flight, but sounds like a great trip! Have a great time planning..Regards to Bob....Betty & John

THANKS Betty, good to hear from you too. We did the Crown in 2001 around New Zealand and down the Pacific as far as Tahiti. Very nice sized ship and quite elegant, lots of glass and mirrors. She was Orient Lines then and now has gone back to NCL and some changes were made, hopefully for the best. If you are going to be a few days in Santiago, I have a good contact there, just let me know if you like to use her services for transportation.
Yes, Antarctica was a wonderful cruise, weather could have been better, but hey it's Cape Horn!!! Probably do it again, we just love S.A. and hope we can plan one with the four of you, would be fun to get together again.
Will break up the flight to Osaka, Toronto/Vancouver, next day on to Osaka which is about 9 1/2 hours flying from Vancouver. Long flights are not the best but how else are we going to to our cruise???? Try and convince John to take the NZ/Australia cruise, done it twice and go back in a heartbeat. You could break it up too, TPA/HON or LAX and continue next day or add a couple of days in Hawaii. Happy planning and the best to John, Marilyn & Al.
