Does anyone know if Oceania has a shuttle from the port to town? If so, where does it leave you off. Is it possible to get a taxi from the ship to the Vasa museum. Thanks.

When I was there I saw lots of taxis lined up by the ship..The Vasa Museum is wonderful!!
I do believe the ship had a shuttle..but we didnt use it so I cant be sure..

Hi Joan - don't know whether you saw my posting on the other site, but last year Oceania had a shuttle between the ship and downtown for $10. If that's too expensive or if it's no longer offered (like Oceania's transfers from Heathrow to Dover), the #1 city bus picks you up at the head of the Frihamnen pier and drops you off in front of the Concert Hall on the Kungsgatten (where the Nobel Prize ceremonies are held). From there, it's an easy walk down the Drottingsholmgattan, if I recall correctly, to the Gamla Stan but the road is lined with all kinds of shops, like Las Ramblas in Barcelona - you'll be there before you know it. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The ship's shuttle, on the other hand, dropped you off at the Opera House, right across the bridge from Gamla Stan. Click on this map (http://www.stockholm-hotels.ws/incStatic/imgSto/map/stockholm-map.jpg) for the location of both drop-off points. A taxi would take you whereever you wanted to go, but empty cabs don't linger around "empty" cruise ships in the afternoon. They're there when you pull into port, but aside from dropping off passengers, that's about the only other time you'll find one, given the remote locations of some of the piers.

Before Oceania's revised boarding policy, passengers who arrived on morning flights were bussed to a conference room at the Stockholm
Sheraton, a few blocks from the Opera House and Gamla Stan, and held there until the 3pm boarding time. By the time you checked in and
found your way to your cabin, it was too late to buy a shuttle pass to head back to town for the evening. Now that you can board as early as 11 am, Oceania's transfer personnel may take you directly to the ship where you can buy your pass and spend you evening in Stockholm until the shuttle's last return trip.
