This is my first cruise and I'm booked into an S suite on the Zuiderdam (6169). One of the amenities is "Personalized Stationary", what exactly does that mean? Is there some way to mail letters?

Thanks,

There is a mali box at the front desk. As long as you have stamps from the next port of call where your letter will be mailed from, you can send one. Sometimes the desk will have foreign stamps from the different ports. You can only use US stamps in St Thomas and Puerto Rico...............jean

Mini-suite, S and PS cruisers have their names embossed on HAL ststionary with the cabin number and title of cruise for example "Voyage of the Vikings June 6 to June 23 2004"
you can use it for inter-cabin messages or mail or just keep it for a souvenir.
Ours said Mr and Mrs., our daughters had their own.

You can buy stamps from the front office appropriate to the port in which the mail will be sent. Buy the stamp and then ask the lady where to deposit your letter. There is a mail slot beside the desk. Mail from the ship is deposited at each port.

I use our personalized stationary to send thank you notes to folks who have done something very nice for us.

If you need more, the Concierge will be happy to provide you with extra.

We used to get 5 or 6 sheets of personalized stationary. But since HAL started to use larger and thicker paper, we got only 3 sheets on our last cruises.

Thank heavens the concierges don't mind running off extras - I needed them on this last cruise.

I guess it really varies as to how many sheets of stationary you get, we have had anywhere from 5 to 10. It was 10 on the Zaandam at Xmas. I also use them to send thank you notes on board.............jean

I also like to use the stationary for my "Cruise Journal." My kids get a kick out of getting letters from me with the letterhead, too. I'm just happy to be able to get additional stationary from the concierge.

Thanks, that sounds really neat. Hopefully they won't say Mr/Mrs but just have our names. I don't need to start any rumors :-)

Most likely it will read the same as your documents. My grandson had stationary with his name on it when he shared a suite with his parents. He was three years old. The name on the stationary was Master Ryan Fitzpatrick.

We had a verandah on the Veendam and had 5 sheets of stationary with Mr. & Mrs (fill in the names) printed on the top.

I am not sure what it depends upon, but on our 10 day Christmas cruise on the Zaandam my husband and I were each given several pages of stationery, each in our own name (we were in a Category A - Navigation deck). Same ship, 7 day cruise in march, we received only one set of stationery (about half as many pages), with both of our names on it (category A - Verandah deck). Does it depend on the length of the cruise? the deck and category you are booked in? The whim of tha cruise staff? Is it as mystical as the upgrade fairy?
