Hi all. Has anyone ever gone on a "GeekCruise"? They are a company in Palo Alto, Cal that stages conventions on Cruise ships, ususally for computer types. Next January, they are sponsoring a chess cruise on the Zuiderdam (going to the Bahamas and the Carribbean.) Several Lectures by Grandmasters, a chance to do some playing. Also a chance to curise HAL again . . .

Any feedback on this company, or what they do?

Thanks

I don't know anything about them, but on our November 2004 Oosterdam cruise they had a huge group onboard. They were a very nice bunch of people. And one of the leaders joined in the American Idol contest. They were all very nice, not obnoxious ... just seemed like a great bunch! I'm assuming that with the name "Geeks", they're computer techies. But I could be wrong!

I haven't been on one, but I've talked to people who have - they had a great time, and got a tax deduction! Well, not the whole cruise, but a good part of it...

Thanks to you both for the feedback. Won't get any tax deductions, because it's pleasure, not business . . . maybe I'm just looking for an excuse to go on another cruise!

It might be my memory starting to go [memory is the 2nd thing to go, but I don't remember what's first :) ] but aren't you a bean counter in real life?

Anyway, here's (http://www.nwfusion.com/newsletters/netware/2002/01228498.html) what I said about Geek Cruises.
